Ms. Brown, who is adept at navigating the federal contracting system

Therein lies a problem - many of these 8A companies can navigate the system but have no real operation to fulfill orders. I guess it would have been too easy to increase the order to whoever is providing MRE's today....

Hard to believe that FEMA doesn't have a contract in place that allows for just such a request, with perhaps a 72-hour notification requirement (typical of logistics/supply contract options). They have to rotate the stock of MREs nationally, anyway. You'd think that pulling and shipping the oldest batch would be SOP.

Or even contact one of the 'Prepper' suppliers, who already have foodstuffs and emergency meals immediately available
as well as pre-packaged water and medical supplies.
I can't believe that FEMA, or FED.gov doesn't already have a ready list for immediately available resources from suppliers with whom they already have contracts.
Calling Captain Obvious !!
