Correlation is not causation, but superstitious Eagles fans may want to turn their state red every four years
The Philadelphia Eagles are basking in the glory of their Super Bowl win this week, but many fans are surely wondering how they can continue their championship ways. But the Eagles have seen long stretches of success and droughts of failure in recent history.
Over the past 30 years, the Eagles have appeared in two Super Bowls and six NFC Championships. In the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008, and 2017 seasons, the Eagles advanced to the conference championship, with the 2004 and 2017 seasons ending in the Super Bowl.
In the same period, the team experienced periods where they struggled to make any impact on the NFL.
What do all of their wildly successful seasons have in common? They all occurred under Republican presidential administrations. And their failed seasons often came during years of Democratic rule.
LOL - so for degenerate gamblers, which other teams are successful under Republican Presidents? Just asking for a friend.
Philadelphia freedom vs. Filthadelphia fleadom.
The Green Bay Packers NEVER won a world championship under a republican administration. Cept maybe for the first one. Gotta go look now, but those were-the one with the most wins were the champs I believe.
They won a few conference but not the big one. And they are on the down and outs now.
I was only in Philadelphia once, maybe 35 years ago and that was for one brief night at a friend’s parents’ house, while we were on our way to Cooperstown, NY to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame. No time to see the sights, that was for sure.
So, just how bad is Philadelphia? Compared to NYC? Detroit? Baltimore? Pittsburgh? Cleveland? Boston?
FRiends, please enlighten me on this point, as my only real experiences in Pa. have been in the west, and that’s usually stopping on my way to visit relatives in Buffalo.
Yeah, they do seem to be on the decline.
This is silly
I know.
So were the 49ers...
Hmm 2 Superbowls out of 52 one win one loss yeah seems like a solid theory LoL
The Philadelphia Eagles, when they were an expansion team during the Depression took their “mascot name” from the eagle on the National Recovery Administration (NRA) logo in 1933. It was a very fascistic organization and was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court which infuriated FDR and motivated his infamous attempt to pack the court.
It’s both better & worse. 3 Super Bowls, 1 & 2 record.
1980, 2004, 2017 seasons.
Speaking as one from the red T of beautiful midstate Pennsylvania: If the Commonwealth needed an enema tomorrow they would put the tube in Filthadelphia.
