How about a lead paragraph explaining who, what, when, where and why.

And please, don’t tell me to go read the article at the link. If a so-called reporter can’t explain the story in one paragraph, I’m not about to waste my time reading crap from 20-year-old moron who can’t write a basic paragraph.

Indeed. Isn't that one of the first things people are taught in Journalism School?

I teach Songwriting, and if several of the Journalist's "5 W's" don't appear in the first few lines, the song will probably go nowhere. The inclusion of the five senses, an action verb, or something personal complete the opening.

For Example:

"On a Dark Desert highway, Cool wind in my hair..."

WHERE: A Desert highway

WHEN: At Night. It's DARK.

WHO: Me

SENSE: Touch (cool wind in my hair)

The next line has the sense of smell (warm smell of colitas) and an action verb (RISING up through the air)



OK. NOW it's time to tell the story, as the stage has been set.

Dittoes. Spot on. What do journalism school dropouts do after they flunk out? They go on to be TV news reporters.

And then we have lazy freepers who post a portion of the story giving even less information.
