GOP lawmakers from Ohio are pressing President Trump to uphold a promise to reverse former President Obama's decision and rename the Alaskan mountain Denali to its old name, Mt. McKinley.
In a letter to Trump, the 11 lawmakers say it was "disrespectful" for Obama to change the name of the mountain, which had been named after William McKinley, a former president from Ohio. The mountain was named after the 25th president in 1896.
"President William McKinley's legacy should not be compromised by a political stunt," the letter signed by Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio) and other lawmakers stated.

This was a good thing O did. Changing it back will NOT be popular in Alaska.
Dems are still in denali over the election.

Let’s go back to Squaw Peak in Arizona too, while we’re at it!
GMC not happy about changing the name of their Denali to the McKinley.
Denali means the Great One, and Mark and Hannity listeners and commenters have been having a lot of fun with that
I am all for undoing everything Obongo did but leave this one. The folks up there resented it being called McKinley in the first place.
I see this as a waste of time. It was Denali all the way to 1917, and it was all a political gimmick to make it into McKinley. If you go and ask most folks from Alaska...probably 80-percent want to stay Denali.
On the list of ten good things that Obama did (it’s a short list)....I’d actually put this down as a positive.
btw, McKinley was assassinated by a dedicated Leftard “anarchist” inspired by political assassinations in Europe.
The radical Left has been a blight on humanity for a long time.
Isn’t Denali the name the native peoples gave to that Mountain?
I recall hearing for decades that Mt. McKinley was also known as Denali. .
Similar to how we Americans refer to the Gulf of California, but Mexicans call that body of water the Sea of Cortez.
Does Congress not have anything better to do with their time than worry about what a mountain is named? Especially a Congress from Ohio and not Alaska?
Denali is not a river in Egypt.
In case anyone was wondering....
Let Alaskans decide.
Eh. Denali is a better name for it. When I was there almost everyone called it Denali.
Rename it McDenali and have McDonalds sponsor all the projects needed to rename it.....
I’m for this but they’ll have a helluva time getting the SUV off the top.
Why can’t it have 2 or more names? K2 is also known as Mount Godwin-Austen.
