Public schooling itself is a challenge. As not all children have the same fortes, nor should they be expected to. But nevertheless that’s how they get administered in our systems.

God does not lessen the giving of one gift without giving more of another gift. Is there such a thing as white privilege? If there is, it would be a superficial thing. A societal assumption, a societal norming. But that’s not going to work as well in the mixed inner city as it will in white bread suburbs. How much better it would be to be very libertarian about progress in our schools? That students wouldn’t even necessarily step together in regimented grades, but proceed as they can along what their skills make possible?

I can explain what happens when a bright kid gets into an averaged, regimented, stepped system. He gets lazy. I was that kid.
