Ives Ad Targets Transgenders, Immigrants, and Women Who Get (Taxpayer Funded) Abortions

The ad marks a sharp public shift to the right in Ives’ campaign. Ives had been gaining attention following a debate with Rauner at the Chicago Tribune last week. And her sharp critiques of the governor were used in a digital ad by Democratic gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker.

“Thank you for legislation that lets me use the girls’ bathroom,” says a man in the new ad, dressed in a woman’s red dress. That targeted a House bill Rauner signed into law which allows transgender citizens to change their gender designation without going through gender reassignment or gender confirmation surgery.

“Thank you for making all Illinois families pay for my abortions,” says a woman wearing a pink hat worn by women attending the women’s march last year.

“Thank you Bruce Rauner for opposing law enforcement and making Illinois a sanctuary state for illegal Illinois immigrant criminals,” says a hoodie-clad white man with a red handkerchief over his mouth.

“Thank you for making the rest of Illinois bail out Chicago teacher pensions, and for giving [Mayor] Rahm [Emanuel] everything he wanted,” says an African-American woman wearing a Chicago Teachers Union t-shirt.

Targeting with free speech, not government agencies like Democrats did to conservatives, or the FISA court like they did to Trump.

JEANNE IVES is a dynamo. She spoke to a citizens group in my area today. The gal knows her stuff!

* West Point graduate in Economics
* Army Officer
* 5 year State Representative
* Mother of 5

Here’s the video of her and Rauner debating for the Chicago Tribune event. She won hands down.

A grown man in a red dress says “girls’” bathroom. Girls? That tells us all we need to know.

When I saw the title, I thought Ives must be a trendy overpriced clothing store targeting these groups as customers.

This helps but when addressing these social issues also direct copy to the costs which are being borne by individual Illinois tax payers like

Why are you paying $$$$$$$$ For
murdering babies
switching bathrooms etc etc

point out that funds from these costly programs are being diverted from your property taxes....

None of those stellar qualifications will carry any weight in Chicago and hence, the election since Chicago votes are counted last when the Democrats know what they will need.

Your concern may be critical to the general election in November, but the immediate battle is in the primary election on March 20th. Illinois has closed primaries, so the Democratic advantage in Chicago will be less of a factor in round one.

You’re correct that this issue is important in the primary, and I hope the ad will cause Rep. Ives to gain support.

I disagree about your definition of “closed primary.” I have a B.A. in political science. In one of my classes, I learned that there are three main types of primaries, closed, open, and wide open. If a state has closed primaries, each voter must choose a party, when he or she registers to vote. During the primary, a voter may only receive a ballot from that party. Usually, those states prevent a voter from changing his or her party fewer than 30 days before the primary. If a state has open primaries, the voters don’t choose a party, when they register. During the primary, each voter may choose a republican or democrat ballot. If a state has wide-open primaries (including California, Washington, and Michigan), all primary voters receive a large ballot that includes candidates from all parties. According to the above definitions, Illinois has open primaries.

In Illinois, voters must declare their party preference to receive a ballot.

I agree that Illinois primary voters must declare their party preference to receive a ballot. That’s the definition of an open primary. If a state has a closed primary, primary voters don’t declare a party, during a primary, because his or her voter registration form tells his or her party.
