Disagree, I think millions around the world grew up on the PLO narrative in that aa great INJUSTICE was done by creating Israel (”NAKBA”) AT THE expense of the (so called) “Indigenous” Plaeostinians, hence they went along with that narrative for decades and still do.
Only those folks who read, listen, watch and monitor this conflict know the truth. Those on the margins have swallowed to PLO agenda since it was foisted on the UN and the world, 1963-2003.
The “Peace Process” was a way of keeping the PLO’s deadly hopes alive, decade after decade.
Many ignorant people still think that at one time there was a separate, independent, autonomous government of Palestine. Sure, there was but it was ruled by the British Empire 1917-1948.
After that, the gig was up and the Arabs hoped to slaughter the Jews while the Jews needed only to survive. The result? Sour grapes for the Arab world and their allies ever since.
Cries for JUSTICE, FOR Paleostine still ring out around the world.

Maybe you’re right, that many duped dopes did really believe the “peace” lie, though after Arafat turned down the deal that would have given him 95% of what he asked for I really don’t see how anyone, no matter how duped, no matter how stupid, could still honestly believe the Pali-terrorist thug population wanted anything other than mass murder of Jews.
Anyway, your post is quite good at summarizing the events (putting aside the issue of what the left actually “believes”).
However you left out one factor in all this that I’m sure you’re aware of but just didn’t mention:
The roll of the Soviet Propaganda machine in the 50s-80s in pushing all Arab opinion (but especially Pali-puke opinion) to absolute extremes. KGB documentation came to light in the 90s showing the massive effort put forth by the Soviets in the Arab world (particularly in the Pali-puke communities) pushing the proposition that Israel stole all the land, that Israelis eat Palestinian babies, and a whole host of lies fed to the ignorant savages in daily doses for decades.
