School Shooting in Kentucky Was Nation’s 11th of Year. It Was Jan. 23.

ATLANTA — On Tuesday, it was a high school in small-town Kentucky. On Monday, a school cafeteria outside Dallas and a charter school parking lot in New Orleans. And before that, a school bus in Iowa , a college campus in Southern California, a high school in Seattle.

Gunfire ringing out in American schools used to be rare, and shocking. Now it seems to happen all the time.

The scene in Benton, Ky., on Tuesday was the worst so far in 2018: Two 15-year-old students were killed and 18 more people were injured. But it was one of at least 11 shootings on school property recorded since Jan. 1, and roughly the 50th of the academic year. Researchers and gun control advocates say that since 2013, they have logged school shootings at a rate of about one a week.

“We have absolutely become numb to these kinds of shootings, and I think that will continue,” said Katherine W. Schweit, a former senior F.B.I. official and the co-author of a study of 160 active shooting incidents in the United States.

Some of the shootings at schools this year were suicides that injured no one else; some did not result in any injuries at all. But in the years since the massacres at Columbine High School in Colorado, Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., gun safety advocates say, all school shootings seem to have lost some of their capacity to shock.

Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action, a gun safety group, said that’s because in 2012 in Newtown, “20 first graders and six educators were slaughtered in an elementary school.”

“The news cycles are so short right now in America, and there’s a lot going on,” she said. “But you would think

I have an idea! Let's have anti-"bullying" PSAs 24/7 telling kids how victimized they are if somebody laughs at them.

That will surely stop it!

Kentucky wasn’t a mass shooting.

The guns have always been here. Liberalism is what’s new. Shootings are a symptom of a deeper problem.

In a country of over 300 million with liberal gun laws. That’s not many.

There is an old phrase, “The less virtuous a people, the greater its need for laws.”

And gee, nothing has happened yet in Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire (but in California though).

I do not believe the statistics. They may be including in anything they want unrelated to schools.

What is needed is more people shooting back.

Soft targets will always be soft targets.

Kentucky wasn’t a mass shooting.

True, but the article never said that it was. Neither were the other school shootings listed.

As usual the times is wrong. I do not become numb when I hear about another school shooting, I do become numb to the pro gun control bias.

How come we ever hear how these children got access to these guns and what motivated them to kill? I suspect because it doesn’the help the gun control message but I’d also be willing to bet a lot of these problems originate at schools controlled by the left and I doubt the media will ever lay blame at the feet of the NEA.

Probably just a coincidence but it seems to coincide with the time that liberals kicked God out of our schools and started teaching the kids that they can be any sex they want and should spend more time playing with themselves.

But that’s the thing. If falls in line with what is happening all the time in Chicago. In a way, what makes it so special is that it happened in a geographical location where it doesn’t normally happen. And since it’s only one event in that area, it doesn’t make a trend or anything. It’s just another gun crime. And only one.
