Agree.
But democrats keep getting elected by pandering to the gullible and the stupid. So the bar is pretty low already.
No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.
Just awesome
Obviously he should have set his password as “1, 2, 3, 4.” dumbass Democrat. And Podesta may have some other tips for passwords.
The retraction should have gone out over the phones the same way the warning did.
I’ve seen this story posted about a dozen times, and it’s totally missing the point. something that the official emergency management system says can’t be effectively unsaid on freaking social media.
the governor runs an administration where they don’t know how to test communications systems, or train state employees on emergency protocols, or create role based user profiles on critical systems, but it’s utterly irrelevant that he couldn’t remember his twitter password.
So the Hawaii Emergency Broadcast System runs on Twitter?
Yes, however, not everyone has cell phones to receive texts, and I'm certain that 1/2-hour in, even those without them had probably heard about the warning from those who did have cell phones. The retraction should have gone out on more than just the cell phone text platform.

So, yes, they should have sent the retraction out on the same system(s)/media that sent the original warning. Either way, Twitter should not even be near the top of that list.
Yep. Didn't you know that USSTRATCOM is changing all their comm systems to use Twitter as their primary alerting system for all of our nuclear forces? (/sarc)
Just about everyone on the islands got the text message, nothing to do with Twitter. Appears they couldn’t figure out how to send a Cancel text message, not pre-programmed. But they could have phoned the tv and radio immediately to let them know.
But they could have phoned the tv and radio immediately to let them know. At a bare minimum, this is what they should have done.
For sure, but something makes me suspect this guy had never had to actually do an official communication and twitter was the only thing he could think of to try (& then he was too big a klutz to actually pull it off).
