Cutting chain migration even more popular than legalizing Dreamers
Americans strongly back giving illegal immigrant Dreamers a pathway to citizenship but a new poll found they also strongly back the other changes President Trump is pushing to build a border wall system, eliminate the visa lottery and curtail the chain of family migration.
The Harvard-Harris Poll, taken in the run-up to the government shutdown, even found huge support for cutting the level of legal immigration, which stands at more than 1 million a year, to less than half that.
The findings challenge the Gang of Six immigration deal Democrats and some Republicans tried to push through the Senate last week, only to see their efforts derailed by Mr. Trump.

I’d like to see 100% of all immigration ended for 25 years.
Americans are afraid to say they are not for DACA for fear of being called racists and this poll proves it.
Americans are realizing that “legal immigrants” are ruining the economic prospects of our middle and upper classes; I can’t believe how many officers high up in financial institutions today are foreigners (usually Asians). That damage isn’t limited to the tech sector.
I wouldn’t mind 40 years.
Send the illegal aliens back, and close the door behind them.
We have something like 75 million foreign born nationals here now. That’s a little less than 25%, but that is way more then we should have.
IMO anything over 10% is pushing it.
Seek immigrants that have something to add to society, not just take, take, take!
“Americans are afraid to say they are not for DACA...”
MAGA not DACA!
And another shocking poll: President Trump’s first-year average job approval rating was at least 10 percentage points lower than that of any of his predecessors, according to Gallup.
I just dont believe it.
We will need a new Congress to get there.
Flake, Corker, Hatch, Heller, Alexander, Graham, McCain, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Rubio, Tillis, Burr, Lankford, Gardner, Cornyn, Cochran, Collins, Sasse, Kennedy, Shelby, Ernst and Blunt are all in favor of amnesty.
“We have something like 75 million foreign born nationals here now. Thats a little less than 25%, but that is way more then we should have.”
I agree entirely. It’s would seem to be very difficult to assimilate new Americans when that number gets above 10-15%.
On a limited bases unmarried females under 22 can come if the are above an 8 on the hotness scale. That’s it.
As well, the anchor baby law NEEDS to be repealed!
We’ve got plenty of people, makin’ new ones all the time. Immigrants can stay the hell home. Or go to Norway.
ditto
I doubt that.
Who cares about the poll? I care about results...and Im pretty dam*ed happy.
"ILLary has a 98% chance of being elected President..."
Crazy and hot :)? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGvxDxDLDvg&feature=share
“Id like to see 100% of all immigration ended for 25 years.”
25 years to begin, with an option to extend.
