Not a tactical maneuver. Just moving down the road into position. If they met resistance they could swing the turrets around fast enough. Turkey’s big issue here is not Syria or macro-geopolitics. They are mostly worried about keeping the Kurds under their heel.
The Kurds, emboldened by success in battle and de facto US support, may not be so easy to handle this time. But that’s OK. If anyone deserves a headache, its Erdogan.
