Still needs to be done. You know if the RATs get in again they will do it first thing.

Yes. Flake, McCain is all it takes since Jones won Alabama. Neither is running again.

“...he’s at home, busy dying.”

Or maybe he’s just hiding from the FISA memo and unavailable to answer inconvenient questions.

> “I agree but 4 repubs voted with the democrats”

Technically true, but not in context.

I’m giving Paul a pass because he just wants more time to dig out the details of what is a bad bill. As far as I know, he wants temporary funding to February to allow more time for review but the democrats derailed the temporary stopgap.

So Paul is alright with me there. Any Senator that wants more time and is willing to vote for a temporary funding bill is alright with me.

No Constitutional requirement for 60. Entirely self inflicted.

As I recall the Constitution only calls for simple majority except in two cases - foreign treaties and something else. This filibuster rule was concocted as an in-house Senate rule and should be removed. You can never do better than following the letter of the originating document, IMO.

McConnell could not come up with 50 votes to change the Senate rules.

At this point I don’t care where we get them as long as we get them. :-) Also, Lee and Paul might flip. Flake and Graham won’t.

You’ll be glad to know that I live in Kentucky and will do everything possible to see Rand Paul reelected. The man is the best senator we have in Washington. When Rand Paul doesn’t go with the flow check out his reasoning, you might be surprised.

Time to end the 60 vote rule. It has been abused by party leadership. Just end it.

You are probably right on getting 50 votes to end the 60 vote rule. I think it is time to put senators on record on the matter.

True - I expected Flake and Graham but Paul and Lee didn’t help - if they had voted “Yea”, it still wouldn’t have made it to the floor for a vote so they wasted a prime chance to push even more weight on Schumer and company...
