You think they have a long term budget ready to go? I don’t think they have one ready in the house

Turn the cameras on when they talk

I disagree.

Deny them the face time on national TV. Schumer needs a camera to feel complete. Deny him!

A lot of their behavior is because there are cameras on them. Deny them!

The Dems just want illegal immigrants to pour into our nation unchecked.

NOT for humanitarian reason, but so that they can vote democrat.

“Flake, McCain is all it takes”

McCain will be replaced by a conservative in a few weeks (appointed by the governor).

Flake can vote with the dims and Pence will break the tie.

The nuclear option would work IF every Senator voted the same way again (except, of course, Leader McConnell, who had to vote with the majority Friday night in order to have the vote reconsidered).
Mitch would then join the 46 republicans (minus the absent McShame) and five Dems for a total vote of 52 to 48.

Cannot expect anything better from Graham and Flake, but Paul and Lee are rather surprising, especially Lee’s Vote.

Also, hope that by exercising the Nuclear Option, the five brave Dems don’t feel alienated and change their stance.

It wouldn’t help. As long as there’s a camera in a hallway ready and willing to help liberals spin, they’ll still get their message out.

Until we can even the playing field on social media and stop the progressives from shadow banning conservative speech, we’re in dire danger. We HAVE to force social media to be regulated, even if it’s against normal conservative positions. Mute our voices and everything we do and say is lost. Only the liberals will be on camera in those hallways.

I’d like to hear DJT say: “You know, I favor a smaller government. I think it should at most half the size it is. As this shutdown goes on, I’ll be permanently eliminating thousands of positions that the American people now clearly understand to be meaningless to their daily lives.”

I think it points out the issue of cloture and the reason for going nuclear. How many government shut downs and near bond forfeitures have we had now this Century? Also, the Senate is all about wasting time when it comes to moving legislation and appointments along. It seems time for a change of some sort in this communication saturated culture, even if it works against us in some instances.

I think the first use of the nuclear option should only be to fund the government with a CR though. Then the second time for the full funding. That should result in honest negotiations, even with Graham and McCain et al.

A couple impacts that the nuclear option might have are that it would seem to give a bit more power to the house, and Presidential Vetoes would be more numerous. But maybe that is what is needed.

You won’t get 51 votes because Linda and Juan will vote with the Demos.

Yes, but four or five Dems voted with the Repubs.

They probably knew about the 4 republican no votes, so to those 4 dems, it was irrelevant and inconsequential to vote with the republicans. If the republicans had all indicated yes on the budget, there might not have been any democrats voting for it.

Should have happened years ago. Yes, more than a few GOP senators are controlled by the Deep State, making leftist wins in a nominally GOP-controlled Senate possible. But McConnell and his team ought to be able to selectively turn on and off the 60 vote threshold, as needed, if that is a real concern.

At least 2 things this President has going for him.

1). Balls
2). Momentum

The whole budget process needs to be redesigned. Yes, 51% is good. But, I would propose breaking up the budget into sections with a priority list and individual votes for each section. So fund active duty military first, and do it for one year. Then fund debt servicing. Go down the list; national parks, passports etc. and fund for a year.

Now, let the Dems vote against combat troops, parks, passports. When you get down to the garbage, deals can be made. I don’t care if the IRS is ceasing audits fur a while.

I would avoid any bailing out for the demodummies. They voted and now, let the chips fall where they may. The obstructionists need to be known for what they are, just that, OBSTRUCTIONISTS. The next thing needed is for the American people hear directly what the FISA report has to say. The demodummies have “dug the hole”, now is the time to burry them in it.

A Line Item Veto would be adequate for this purpose. Then each line vetoed could go back to see if the veto is overridden.

“Yes, but four or five Dems voted with the Repubs.”

Meaningless show votes for Nov. Elections. Schumer told them to vote Yes as there was zero chance to get to 60. If the threshold is 51 votes no way they vote Yes unless once again Schumer tells them to. If the shut down lands squarely on the Rats back Schumer could look for a way out then all bets are off.

President Trump poked fun at the Democrats, saying the shutdown was their way of giving him a one year anniversary gift for first year in office.

This is the One Year Anniversary of my Presidency and the Democrats wanted to give me a nice present. #DemocratShutdown— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 20, 2018

The democrats prefer protecting illegal aliens rather than U.S.citizens!:

Tell Senate Democrats that YOU -- the American voter -- will ALWAYS remember the day that Democrats put illegal immigrants before American citizens. !!!!

Why in the world is it not 51% simple majority to begin with? From what I can tell, 51% simple-majority vote before the first submission to the President is the constitutional standard.
