A thin layer of snow and ice across the South closed highways, schools and government offices and sent cars sliding off the road Wednesday, while a blast of cold air broke records as far south as the Gulf Coast.
Icicles hung from a statue of jazz musicians in normally balmy New Orleans, and drivers unaccustomed to ice spun their wheels across Atlanta, which was brought to a near-standstill. The beach in Biloxi, Mississippi, got a thin coating of snow.

Normally balmy New Orleans? Well, a lot of time it is but it can get damn cold there. Guess they've finally put in place population controls by reduced birth rates huh? Didn't I post something about that earlier today?

You Southern boys are vaginas when it comes to snow, cold, and ice. 20 degrees is a heat wave to us. We in Packerland drive 90 mph in black ice.

Absolute proof of "global warming", because nine out of ten "climate scientists" say "Global Warming makes things colder", and 20,679 physicians say "Luckies are less irritating".

We moved to Columbus, Georgia from Wisconsin, and my wife is from northern Alberta. We know both cold and snow.
Last night we received a bit more than an inch of soft, powdery snow. The pavement was warm enough from previous days that a lot of it didn't stick to the roads.
BUT, trash pickup cancelled, my employers office was closed due to "hazardous driving conditions", courts not in session, buses cancelled.
I don't make fun of the locals, who don't have all season tires and have no practice driving in it ... I get in on it and get my time off, too!
Day off from work, kids outside making their first snow man since Wisconsin, four winters ago. A recent snow here provided their first snow ball fight, as in snow ball (there was only enough snow for one ball apiece).
It's all good.

We in Packerland drive 90 mph in black ice.I call BS on that. Driving on snow is one thing ... but ice presents many more problems. Without proper equipment (chains, studded tires, etc.) anyone anywhere has problems driving on it.
