Local taxes are going up double digits in one locale in my neck of the Upstate NY woods. And Republicans are running things there now. Result: SSDD. We’re counting down the days til we can escape from NY.

NYS is $4.4 bil in the hole. No spending cuts, real cuts, proposed. NYS is screwed.

NYS is a beautiful big state with a lot to offer.

And like clockwork, the liberals/thieves in both parties are destroying it.

“Sounds like a good reason for business to move out of NY. Smart move Cuomo.”

I hope this doesn’t result in more of those stupid “New York is open for business” ads.

You mean the ads Cumo spent 430 MILLION dollars on last year to promote himself?

Our uber liberal Governor here in Washington state is proposing a carbon tax and a state property tax. Unfortunately our legislature went under Democrat control in the last election, so most likely we the people will get stuck with both.

Cuomo is trying to get the state to engage in Tax evasion. He and his cronies should be jailed accordingly.

So, Trump reduces them, and the insane leftist cooomo raises them.

When it comes to TAXES with LIBERALS, TOO MUCH is NOT ENOUGH.

“All this just to help taxpayers who itemize.”

And of course these are the evil rich people that the left claims to hate, but who they don’t want to leave the state and take all their money with them.

And has Cuomo figured out what to do with the companies that will want to leave the state for lower tax states?

I’m reading all these comments here and I think most people have missed the point.

Cuomo is suggesting this “payroll tax” approach as a complete replacement for the state’s income tax since state income tax is no longer deductible on federal tax returns while “payroll taxes” would be.

Right now, big earners in NY are going to get hammered under the new federal tax law because they will no longer be able to deduct on their federal return the huge state income tax they pay every year.

Good luck to you. I was finally able to bolt to South Carolina.

Thank God.

4.4 billion in the hole, where did all that money go, social services and illegals. A friend of mine received his tax relief check last week ( a nice jester from your politicians) his property taxes are around 12,000 per year for a small home his kind property relief check this year was $117. dollars, 4.4 billion in the hole and the residents of the state get the hot poker up the keister. The GOP in the state are their homely pets begging for crumbs, shame on them all

“”The governor’s proposal would shift the state from collecting an income tax paid by individuals to a payroll tax paid by businesses — which would be fully deductible by businesses on federal returns””

Geniuses in Albany....Way to attract business to the state, gov! Better pull the TV commercial about the great business climate in NY State. Tax would be deductible on FEDERAL returns - all heart, that guy! Why not make it deductible on STATE returns also? LOL! Whoops - how would that work?
