I remember being warned about this 50+ years ago.

halt a sneeze by pinching the nose and holding his mouth
That’s just stoopid.

Is this also true for those who like burritos?
I’m asking for a friend.

...or pop a blood vessel in your brain
I think that's what happened to a fellow co-worker back in about 1988. He was hospitalized for about a week and when he came back, he was not in the same health as before the sneeze. I don't know if he ever recovered or continued being hampered by the condition he was left in. A young guy too; mid-20s.

My motto has always been to sneeze - and to fart - proudly.
So in addition to not holding back, I’ll let out an AHHH as a sign of both relief and of affirming that there is no shame in a public display of a bodily function.

Love a good sneeze!
Cheap thrill, indeed!

Many people -- when they feel a sneeze coming on -- block all the exits, essentially swallowing the sneeze's explosive force. Never! Just catch it, in my hand, if necessary, or a napkin or tissue, or whatever. I do try to supress it sometimes, but this is futile. I will omit further analogies.

Wait, what? This sends the message “Hey just let it all out, sneeze your disease.” I see that too often here in infested CA.
What happened to containing your sneeze, like into your hand, a tissue, sleeve, etc? Now the advice is just let it go...spray everyone around you?
I have never seen, nor encountered, anyone of American or other origin plugging their nose and mouth to contain a sneeze. What the heck?

That sneeze builds a tremendous pressure. Suppressing it can actually cause your brains to be blown out of your ear canals.

You can lose your poor meatball when somebody sneezes.

. . . and simply suppressing the reflex to weaken the power of the sneeze is no bargain, either. That can kill your back.

Not suppressing the sneeze can also be dangerous if you can't cover your mouth.
The other people on the bus may beat you silly.
