Economists agree: Trump, not Obama, gets credit for economy

Who deserves credit for the booming economy? This is not a petty argument. How voters answer the question could well determine whether Democrats retake the House of Representatives come November.

Trump and Obama (and their admirers) are slugging it out, both claiming that it is their policies that have led to the ongoing economic expansion, steady job growth and higher stock prices.

Happily for President Trump, the pros agree with him. A recent survey of economists suggest it is President Trump, and not Obama, who should be taking a bow.

The Wall Street Journal asked 68 business, financial and academic economists who was responsible for the strengthening of the economy, and most “suggested Mr. Trump’s election deserves at least some credit” for the upturn.

A majority said the president had been “somewhat” or “strongly” positive for job creation, gross domestic product growth and the rising stock market.

The pros cite the White House’s push for lighter regulation and the recent tax bill as critical to a pro-growth environment; more than 90 percent of the group thought the tax bill would boost GDP expansion over the next two years.

A year ago in the same survey, economists awarded President Obama mixed grades. Most saw his policies as positive for financial stability, but neutral-to-negative for GDP growth and negative for long-term growth. By contrast, Trump was seen as neutral to positive for long-term gains.

Unhappily Trump, voters have not yet caught up with the experts. Democrats have done an excellent job of trashing Trump’s policies, issuing hysterical alarms over the supposed dangers of deregulation (toxic water, foul air!) and vilifying the GOP tax bill.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The MSM is doing a good job with Fake News...

That sneaky, smart Obama! He waited until he was out of office to unleash his recovery engine!

Democrats are terrified that the tax cuts will be a pleasant surprise to those who believed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) when she called the bill Armageddon, and when Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) declared it a “kick in the gut to the middle class.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We'll see...

Like an angry brat, Obama flipped the game board over as he stormed off and by a miracle, the pieces landed in the right place when it hit the ground. Since Obama is the Left’s Messiah, it must have been by his divine will.

The only things Obama should get credit for is running a corrupt admin., trying to interfere in elections, ours and Israel, trampling on civil rights, falsifying his selective service card, (funny business with his birth certificate), and being a big eared dork who never worked an honest day in his pampered life.

It was just 12/6/17 that Obama took credit for the economic boom...”Thanks, Obama” he said.

I’m surprised there’s even a question about this.

For the record, 0bama and his ilk TRIED to destroy the economy and the country.

Actually, Trump should have taken a page out of the 0bama playbook and claim for the first year that he ‘inherited the problem’, and whatever complaints from the press should be directed at the previous administration.

But then again, the current White House has too much class for that.

The 2018 and 2020 elections will be watersheds. The Democrats will try to convince the American people to essentially forgo their economic well being, accept heavy handed government regulations and high taxes and to “fundamentally transform” their culture with open borders and even greater permutations of hedonistic debauchery. The MSM will support the Democrats every way possible and will castigate Trump mercilessly. Elections do and will matter. The country’s future is at stake.

The problem with Obama trying to take credit is how he/the media tried for 8 years to sell his lackluster and sluggish economy as ‘the new normal’. Recall how many times they suggested we would never return to the ‘good ole days’ of rapid growth and low unemployment.

Yet, from the day after the election, the economy started to show improvements. Companies announced new hiring goals. The Stock Market took.

Obama left behind a legacy of massive new regulations. And that is a huge negative, as history will eventually show. Trump dismantling many of those regulations is a massive force in moving the economy in a positive direction.

Obama gets credit for making the mess. Trump gets credit for starting to clean it up.

We have to be thankful to Pelosi. She is the perfect poster child for the insane and demented RATS. Heard her in recent speeches where she cannot even articulate her insanity any more. I don’t think she will be in the beltway that much longer. Her insane ramblings will be her Waterloo. Keep it up Nancy....along with your complicit mob of vote buyers.

The Obama recovery was very slow, weak, anemic. Obama left a lot on the table for Trump to claim. For example, 99% of Democrats and 100% of Republicans agreed on repatriation of trillions parked off shore. Obama and the Democrats could have led on that issue and grabbed the credit. But no. Obama did nothing. He was still in paralysis of analysis seeking the perfect way to bring the money home. He should have listened to Democrats in Oregon: Just Do It!

So Obama gets credit for leaving so much on the table for Trump to take the credit. Thanks Obama.

How can any intelligent, objective and historically knowledgeable individual believe that a committed redistributor-in-chief, whose policies were based in Progressive socialistic ideology and implemented by government coercion through over-burdensome regulation of "We, the People," possibly be responsible for the kind of economic renewal we are witnessing in the past 12 months?

Just asking.

It's called "individual freedom" and "People over Government," versus "government power" and "Government over People."

Obviously, "People over Government" wins every time it is tried.
