Trump’s Attorneys Make Solid Case For Freeing Julian Assange in Legal Filing

President Donald Trump’s attorneys made a solid case for preemptively pardoning Julian Assange in a motion to dismiss a WikiLeaks-related lawsuit against the Trump campaign.

While preemptive pardons are rare — they are not unheard of.

The motion, filed on December 29, was in response to a lawsuit by two Democratic Party donors who allege that the Trump campaign and former adviser Roger Stone conspired with Russians to publish the leaked Democratic National Committee emails. The outlandish lawsuit, based largely on conspiracy theories, was orchestrated by a group called Protect Democracy — which happens to be run by former attorneys from the Obama administration.

In defense of the Trump campaign, the 32-page filing by Michael A. Carvin argues that the publishing of the DNC leak passes both aspects of the Bartnicki First Amendment Test.

The first part of the case law is that a defendant may not be held liable for a disclosure of stolen information if it deals with “a matter of public concern.”

Assange is one big reason Hillary isn’t president. He should be rewarded for that.

More than likely he is also the reason for the death and torture of many American spies and exposure of things we needn't have had exposed.

Don't get me wrong I've posted on freeing Assange and pardoning him in the past - I've begun to rethink all that - He is a useful tool for our enemies - this requires a delicate touch - I would say find patriotic folks in the Intelligence Community (stop laughing) and get their assessment if it is wise to let him out of the bathroom - then pawn him off to Australia in return for all those refugees Obama signed us up for.

I’m afraid he’ll be murdered for it.

He is probably safest where he is.

So let’s assume Assange gets a pardon. He has lots to tell - like where the DNC emails came from. He claims it was an inside job. This could unravel the entire Russia narrative.

But what happens when he is cross examined about his sources for all the other emails and information he has disclosed over the years? It goes to his credibility, hence admissible. He won’t disclose them. He’s then ordered to do so. Failure to follow the order is not covered by the pardon. So he’s held in contempt.

The moral is it is very hard to see him ever testifying, and without his under oath testimony, he’s useless.

Then, of course, is the discovery process.......

Office off site Mar-A-Lago facility. Unlimited duration free suite with charge food/drink to room. Free golf pass with cart.

All of this would be contingent on just a little look see at what he working on and an ability to suggest, not require, that is not in our best interest to get out... so please hold that for x number of weeks, months or years.

Heck, Trump could name the Suite the Wistleblower suite.

He will always be a hero for freedom to me. Not all heroes are American.

I do fear for his life, even here.

It has gotten to where secrets really aren’t. Or at least weren’t. Assange was a collator and not, technically, a spy. He might be useful as a counter-counter agent — getting us closer to actual spies. I feel Assange was more like a kind of principled blabbermouth, thinking the more truth out there the better. And he did let us know there were spies, alright. As well as a boatload of dirt on the Dems. Much less on the GOP.

I do too. He might be better off just staying where he is. I’m sure he has enemies in every corner, vicious ones.
