HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) A teenage girl was among two people who were shot and killed by security guards outside a pop-up teen club in Hillsborough County on Monday night.
Jyhaad D. Grant, 25, and Julissa D. Jackson, 15, were found dead inside a vehicle after they were shot by two security guards who said they feared for their lives. Grant and Jackson were Tampa residents.
Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office deputies responded a 911 call at 11:30 pm about a shooting at a facility known as The Club located at 5809 50th St. N.
The facility is a storage building that is rented out for events.
About 150 to 200 people were attending a teen night Pajama Jam from 8 p.m. until midnight on Monday. The event closed early at 10:45 p.m. because of multiple fights, deputies said.
Investigators said the crowd was in the process of leaving when the armed security guards heard fireworks and then gun shots.
The security guards were investigating where the gun shots were coming from and saw a person firing a gun from a car, according to deputies.
Both security guards returned fire in fear of their lives, deputies said.
Grant and Jackson were found dead inside the vehicle. When deputies arrived, most of the crowd had left the scene.
Deputies have not yet released any details about who was shooting from the car or whether a gun was located.
Jackson leaves behind a 2-month-old son, according to her great-grandmother Elease Moore.
She said grandmamma, Ill be right back, lll be back. She got halfway out the door and smiled and that was the last time I saw her alive, Moore said.
Grant leaves behind a 2-month-old girl and his girlfriend of eight years.
Grants girlfriend, Angel Madison, said despite being arrested in the past, Grant was working to change his life around after learning he would become a father.
Ill let her know that he really, really loved her, Madison said.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise funds for Grants funeral.
Madison said Grant was friends with Jacksons family.
She said Jackson and her friends asked Grant to take them to the party and he decided to stay since he was already there.
He was an aspiring rapper who decided to go to college and become a Wall St. titan, but his life was so cruelly cut down by WHITE OPPRESSION.
In all seriousness, I pity the poor baby, though she might be further ahead (slightly) in 'grandmamma's' care.
What a pitiful story. I wonder if armed security were off duty police officers hired for it or Black Lives Matter members.
Note that the late Jyhaad was 25 years old, too. In 1992, that name was totally below the social radar.
His mom might've been one of Farrakhan's minions.
Jyhaad (his momma apparently didn’t know how to spell Jihad) and Julissa don’t be needing no pictures.
So the 15 year old baby momma was shooting from a car into a crowd (she’s too young to be the driver)? No loss to society, but too bad neither qualified for a Darwin.
In other words a restaurant by day, and then occasionally the tables are removed and DJ equipment is set up for music. They pop up in different locations and are advertised by flyers or some other method.
I had the same question. 8>)
That was what I thought, too. And how the press can put a good spin on this, I do not know.
Plus, wouldn’t this 25 year old impregnating a 15 year old (who was probably 14 at the time) be statutory rape for anybody else?
That some crazy stuff
At this point I can’t believe some off duty cops. they probably just heard some fireworks and started shooting.
I saw it as a version of jihadi. The middle initial was d so...
jihadi grant
permission to commit jihad?
And you can be sure Jyhaad was a good boy, a very good boy.
Yeah he could have been a successful rapper
Truly! That is what I said to my husband; that great-great grandma is probably my age.
"Yes, Baby Girl. Daddy Jyhaad-D really, really loved you. That's why he was out with a 15 y/o girl shooting at strangers when he wasn't leaving more babies scattered around, instead of being with you or with any of his other children."
Shame to say, but the kids have a better chance now than before, albeit a slim one
No truth to the rumor that one of the security guards was Geoge Zimmerman...
I wonder as well.
I was a military dependent growing up, and they had a teen club on a couple of the bases I lived on...in Subic Bay, it was a whole building with a snack bar, pool tables, dance floor and stage...a really great place.
I feel pretty sure this one wasn’t like that one.
I like that we don't have to look up information on this guy.
They actually tell you he was a POS up front.
Seems to me he was turning off the turnpike of life to stop at another dead end location, if this night was any indication.
All he accomplished was getting a 15 year old girl shot dead. My what fun...
The hip-hop culture is chock full of stupid.
I am surprised Angel had no issue with her boyfriend being out at a club with a 15 year old while she is at home taking care of his baby.
Also wonder if they were maternity friends.
