The undocumented Mexican immigrant acquitted of murder and manslaughter in the controversial death of 32-year-old Kate Steinle is due back in San Francisco Superior Court this week for a sentencing hearing.
Judge Samuel K. Feng is scheduled to sentence 45-year-old Jose Ines Garcia Zarate on Friday for the only conviction jurors returned against the defendant for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Strange to be convicted of possessing a firearm but not for the ability to shoot it (murder, manslaughter, etc.)

He has a gun, the gun matches that what was used in the killing, his fingerprints are all over the gun, plus the rounds, and yet he is not found guilty!!!!!!!

Hiding under his political desk, as usual. He appears to be much more interested in getting back to the political mainstream rather than supporting DJT’s agenda which includes the rule of law.
His defense was, essentially, that he did not intend" to shoot Ms. Steinle. In democrat circles this is all that you need to claim to be, "not guilty".
He shot it on a down angle it hit the concrete and Ricocheted into the young lady. It’s in the forensics. So it’s not murder 1. But the dip wads in the Frisco jury wouldn’t give him murder 2 or manslaughter either. Total waste of air, the Bay Area.
Even if he did not have the intent, he was guilty of manslaughter or at least negligent homicide both of which are essentially murder without intent or accidental murder.
Come on, he just mishandled something he should have kept secure. No big deal. I’m surprised a prosecutor took this to trial.
