Dear Democrats, Ownership Isn’t Theft
National Review ^ | December 20, 2017 | David French

I’m starting to think that all too many Democrats believe that private citizens and private corporations don’t actually own their private income or their private property.

Otherwise, how can we explain the Democratic insistence, repeated endlessly over the last 24 hours, that Republicans somehow are poised to execute a grand “heist” by cutting corporate and individual tax rates, granting an estimated 80.4 percent of taxpayers an average tax break of $2,140.

The rhetoric was remarkable, and the hysterics weren’t confined to fringe figures on the left.

Here’s House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi:

The French Anarchist Proudhon is famous for his statement: “Property is theft”.

The Democrats of today are pushing an old and very bad ideology which has NOTHING in common with the foundational principles of this country.

They are marxists and of course they don’t believe in ownership or private property unless it is their own. I don’t know why GOP are so reluctant to call a spade a spade. These marxists are alien invaders and are not a valid alternative political option in a free nation no more than fascism or a dictatorship.

A large percentage of their constituents live on the proceeds of crime, so this argument makes sense.

When 47% (and growing) of the populace are net recipients of public largesse (i.e., receiving more in govt. benefits than they pay in taxes), it becomes harder and harder to "sell" them the idea that reducing taxes - even on everyone - is a good thing.

I think it long past time to realize that ALL leaders of the Democratic Party, regardless of their position, are not now, never were, and can not ever be considered “Moderates”.

Due to the make up the Party’s active base they must be considered hysterical figures on the far left; they wouldn’t be in leadership positions, at any level, otherwise.

While this truth may not be patiable it will make dealing with them easier because your starting point is closer to reality!

Neither is letting people keep their money a subsidy, but that it is remains a bit of foundational rhetoric of the left.

To many Democrats it does all belong to government, at least on some level.

That’s why there’s nothing left of the old extreme left that’s extreme to them anymore. Why someone like Sanders can be acceptable at all.

Sure, they may claim they’re not socialist/communist but not only is classical liberalism entirely missing even progressivism of the past (as bad and opposed to everything this nation was meant to be as that “progressivism” was) only remains in tatters, as snippets of language and rhetoric corrupted by the degrading influence of Cultural Marxism. They are “superprogressives” ... where “super” to them is progress but to everyone who rejects them is sarcasm.

They’re like that one line from Red Dwarf: “Rimmer, real dumplings, proper dumplings, don’t bounce when they’re dropped.”

Progressives are dumplings that bounce.

the government bears the burden of establishing the need for your funds or the necessity for regulation.
SOME writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes our happiness POSITIVELY by uniting our affections, the latter NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron, the last a punisher.

Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one: for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries BY A GOVERNMENT, which we might expect in a country WITHOUT GOVERNMENT, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer. Government, like dress, is the badge of lost innocence; the palaces of kings are built upon the ruins of the bowers of paradise. For were the impulses of conscience clear, uniform and irresistibly obeyed, man would need no other lawgiver; but that not being the case, he finds it necessary to surrender up a part of his property to furnish means for the protection of the rest; and this he is induced to do by the same prudence which in every other case advises him, out of two evils to choose the least. Wherefore, security being the true design and end of government, it unanswerably follows that whatever form thereof appears most likely to ensure it to us, with the least expense and greatest benefit, is preferable to all others. - Thomas Paine, Common Sense (1776)

Socialsts are the modern-day “ writers” who "have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them.” They do so because they are cynical about society and, concommitantly, have faith in or even naiveté towards government. How else justify conflating “a blessing” with an "evil,” even if necessary?

Ownership is society’s way of remembering. If you earn a wage, someone - someone who legitimately in society’s eyes owned the money - ceded ownership of that money to you in recognition of your effort and your commitment of time. Now you legitimately own the money in society’s eyes, and you dispose of it in similar manner. You might also gift the money to someone, and society will recognize the transfer.

Socialism’s cynicism toward society tends to undermine that societal memory function. Socialism is societal dementia.

There is a large population segment which thinks economics is zero sum, and that one having more than another is presumptive proof of theft. Ergo, they view possession as theft.

“The Democrats of today are pushing an old and very bad ideology which has NOTHING in common with the foundational principles of this country.”

Let it be clearly understood, the Democrats intend to destroy every vestige of what made this country great. I knew there were a lot of America haters living in this country but didn’t know they numbered in the tens of millions. It took losing an election to bring them out of the woodwork.

Now they have exposed themselves and America needs to destroy them. It is a battle for survival.

Preceded by future US Senator Elizabeth Warren in her 2012 campaign. Obama rarely had an original thought.
