There was a time that the cop, or someone else, had to be in a reasonable threat of harm before lethal force was tolerated.
Now, reaching to pull up your pants is reason enough. I think that is an integral and inseparable part of this story.
I’ll post whatever I want, thanks.
I thought the same thing. I thought SWAT officers were the best of the best, highly trained for these kinds of altercations. So they get a phone call, and without any other information they shoot at an unarmed man? I don’t know...did they check to see where the call was coming from because it came from a different State. Seems that would be pretty up there on the list of “to do’s.”
It’s an interesting phenomena, no, make that disturbing, that you find the killing of an unarmed, innocent individual by someone under color a PERCEIVED rash move.
“Sorry, but this is about the swatter. But if you wish to start a thread to vent about your issues with police, feel free to do so.”
NO, it isn’t. It’s about two wrongs not making a right! If no one had been killed by the stupid ASSWAT, there wouldn’t be an article about anything here! Talk about cognitive dissonance!
Your response to yadent is way off. I don't see in any of the comments that yadent called for such a thing. Perhaps you responded to the wrong comment.
That being said, If you didn't want the police officers' actions to be mentioned, perhaps you could have cited another article that did not include those said actions. The police killing the innocent man is in the cited article, therefore it is fair game for commenting.
Perhaps you should start a vanity about how much you dislike people saying negative things about police officers. You seem to have an issue with it.

Oh,really?

You can dispense with your pseudo ebonics “dog,” I’m white!

Nope, it’s spot on. I noted the bizarre irony, but I could have added the hypocrisy involved in issuing a snap judgment about a someone else’s perceived snap judgment.
Some people are given to sudden reactions, but you don’t attack them in displaying the same.
As one with officers within my family, whose job over the years required interaction with HUNDREDS of LEOs from corrections to parole to street, it is my ultimate hope that the ‘ebonics’ utterer is not in ANY governmental authority position whatsoever. Nor will he/she EVER be......
So cops are out hunting white people down just for the sake of enjoying a thrill kill, then. Kind of a WLM thing, one supposes. I stand corrected (and still taking in all the ironic hypocrisy).
Prankster Tyler Raj Barriss
Bout’ what you’d expect the jackass to look.
What is that?
.
I was being sarcastic since they shot and killed a person at the home where this guy called in the hoax. So they shot an innocent man, but did not shoot the guilty one.
“but did not shoot the guilty one.”

Now, *that* woulda been some sweet instant justice-karma if the swatter’s own real phone number had been displayed.
Wow.
Here’s one of the comments from your link:
“Janey Siegrist: Care to offer an explanation as to why his entire family was shackled and taken to the police station after they killed him? Why they were handcuffed and put into the back of police cruiser? They always restrain and kidnap the victim’s family when they shoot an innocent person.”
Somehow, in my 80+ years of bumbling around on this planet and 17+years of FReeping -- that one managed to escape me...
Would you please explain?
Assault with a deadly weapon? (trigger-happy SWAT team)
First Degree Murder? (Certainly premeditated -- and he "contracted for the 'hit'" --- by dispatching SWAT to that address)...)
