Why can’t McConnell just attach it to the budget and pass it with 51 votes like Reid did with obamacare and the R’s did with the tax cuts?
CA and NY keep state taxes high to avoid paying their share to the Feds. Not to mention, CA is a sanctuary state for foreign invaders that are also leaching off the rest of the states. You should reassess your stance.
Corporations are a primary business entity of free enterprise. If you are against them no one is forcing you to buy their products, are they? I amuse you don’t own any of their stock shares either?
Pay "their share to the Feds"?
Come on Neo. That is the rhetoric of Liberals, and I know you are not one.
I am NOT against corporations or businesses. Please don't put words in my mouth. I am against having my taxes raised so that they get a massive tax break. This isn't too hard to figure out. The GOPe picked winners and losers with the Tax Bill, rather than implementing fair and real Tax Reform.
I am also not against anyone's 410K or shares making money, and I am not against Capitalism.
What I object to is being told that I, and millions of us, are supposed to be happy by being screwed. We are not happy, and that's our right.
There are 24 House Republicans in NY, NJ, can CA alone. I expect us to lose at least some of those in 2018, perhaps the majority of them. The GOP made a political gamble with this tax bill. We will have to see what happens.
>> And who would those people be that are going to have a tax increase? The high tax states, maybe? If you are talking about Ca and NY, they deserve to pay their fair share. The low tax states have been subsidizing them for far too long.
The tax increases may hit more people in the high tax states but not all of those states are blue. As the map at this link shows, Iowa has a top state income tax rate of 8.98 percent. More importantly though, it's not just many taxpayers in states with high income taxes that will pay higher taxes. Many with high mortgage interest and/or property taxes will also be affected. As shown at http://usbudget.blogspot.com/2017/12/who-will-see-their-taxes-go-up-under_23.html, the "family of four earning the median income of $73,000" who "can expect a $2,059 tax cut", will only see an $11 tax cut if they have $37,500 in itemized deductions, regardless of whether or not those deductions are still allowed. If the two children are also older than 17, then the $11 tax cut becomes a $989 tax increase. Following is a graph showing the change in taxes for other levels of itemized deductions:
Still, the tax bill as a whole will add about $1.5 trillion to the debt over 10 years. That will be paid for by cuts in service and/or higher interest payments by our children. There is no free lunch.
I don’ t really want to argue with either one of you. The US had the highest corporate rate of all industrialized nations. The cut will stimulate job growth and the economy. I know it is far from perfect but it will fuel jobs and end the corporate move to other countries. I personally favor a national sales tax to replace the IRS jackboots, but that is unlikely to happen.
Jim Robinson did the calculations and as I recall he said otherwise. Last time I checked he is from CA. I haven’t personally calculated my own tax burden. I have to pay a CPA $600 every year to figure it out. SkyPilot thanks for defusing. Happy New Year
We still need that wall! Keep fighting for us!
Opened up ANWR! Drill bay, drill!
Israel is a questionable ally? Really? How so?
I am sure Trump wanted across the board tax cuts. He got what he could.
Nobody is subsidization anyone. All taxes are evil some pay more than others. It is all one big crap sandwich for the forgotten man/woman.
I don’t recall Israeli soldiers ever fighting beside the US. I do recall the USS Liberty incident.
Very true. Those high tax states voted heavily against General, er President Trump.
For your information Israel volunteered an entire division to Desert Shield/Storm but was refused by Bush I. Too political for that globalist asshole.
Happy New Year to you as well!
Very good information and graph. Thanks for posting.
How can this be true if you are the wealthy?
Very true. Those high tax states voted heavily against General, er President, Trump. I think the republicans crafted the bill for just a bit of payback. Don’t get me wrong, I know there are many fine conservative republicans in some of those states.
Ok,,but the statement I made remains true. They have never fought beside US troops like the Uk, Australia, S. Korea, and so goes the list. You didn’t address the USS Liberty incident?
They are not allowed too. Israel is friend and I visited there many times while in the military. F off loser. Anti Semitic much?
