A malicious idiot who was engaged in an online argument called the police pretending to be the guy he was arguing with and claimed he had murdered his father and was holding his mother hostage - the intent was to get the SWAT team to show up at the house of his victim.

The malicious idiot got the address of his victim wrong. The police showed up at the house of an unsuspecting man and shot and killed him because he "moved a hand toward his waistband".

Idiot police. Hopefully they can find the prankster. He deserves to be up for murder.

“But investigators say the disturbing tale was made up by a “prankster” who carried out a “swatting” hoax to get a SWAT team to descend on an address. As it turned out, the caller gave cops Finch’s address, reportedly believing it belonged to a person he had gotten into a heated argument with over a $1 or $2 “Call of Duty” wager.”

Gamers.

Just like the poor bastard pulling up his shorts in the Mesa motel. Well at least the cops went home safe and sound.

“The malicious idiot got the address of his victim wrong.”

The malicious idiots were the police.

At least two people should be charged with murder, here: The trigger-happy cop and the asshole who made the completely dishonest call.

So it’s the malicious idiot’s fault instead of the guys running into hours brandishing guns and shooting first, asking questions later?

There are two culprits here - one is the malicious idiot who deliberately lied to the police and inflicted an armed police raid on what he thought was his victim. The second culprit is the incompetent cop who shot an innocent man minding his own business. Both should be prosecuted.

Apparently the investigators didn’t do much investigating.

This cops defense is no defense at all. He needs to be charged with cold blooded murder.

Yet another textbook example why the US peace officers need to be completely retrained. They are trained to become more belligerent, not less when faced with a member of the public (note I didn’t say suspect because an innocent man should not be called a ‘suspect’), and they are trained to resort to deadly force much, MUCH too easily and quickly.

Its the training stupid ... and the lowering of standards for who is permitted to wear the badge ... too many cops no longer see themselves as members of the community they are supposed to serve, but as the “cowboys” in a “cowboys and Indians” scenario.

A little adrenaline, a little pretext, a little too quick with the trigger ... oh well “he was reaching towards his waistband”. The lines that tey are taught to recite after committin a murder, or at the very least, negligent homicide, are predictable, time-worn and pathetic.

Its. The. F*****g. Tranining. Cops in Europe don’t shoot to kill, they are taught to “shoot to wound”, AND they do it too, just as expertly as US cops who are taught to “shoot to kill”.

Any cops who tells you there is no such thing as learning how to “shoot to wound” is a PART of the problem.

Its a national crisis caused by an overaggressive US police culture caused by the defective training.

If someone who is as 150% pro-police and pro law-enforcement like me can see it, the problem is pretty damned big.

And again, we all know and expect the trigger happy cop will not be charge, let alone the ‘prankster’.

This is also like the somalian cop who killed a white woman because he was ‘startled’ and now, will also not be charged. I am sure he will also get to ‘retire’ early and live on the taxpayers for the rest of his life, then support 30+ more somalians into the USA through chain migration.

P.S. The moron who made this “swatting” phone call should be charged with first degree murder, too.

I’m trying to imagine laying around the couch snoozing and suddenly PA, loud speakers, spotlights and voices demanding you exit your home with your hands up. Then they shoot you dead!

What you all may not know is that Wichita police are usually pretty decent and level headed. I’ve dealt with them.

What the news isn’t connecting to this event is the fact that a cop was shot here just a couple of days ago. It seems to have made them a tad bit jittery!

The victim didn't have a clue if he so much as moved the wrong way his head would explode.

The cops go loaded for bear, thinking this guy just blew hid dads brains out and alleged he's was holding mom and a kid in a closet.

I guess this guys prank worked.
