All of the jihadis who murdered 130 people in Paris in November 2015 had just entered Europe as refugees. Is it racism and xenophobia to recall that in February 2015, the Islamic State boasted it would soon flood Europe with as many as 500,000 refugees? Or that the Lebanese Education Minister said in September 2015 that there were 20,000 jihadis among the refugees in camps in his country?
Meanwhile, 80% of migrants who have come to Europe claiming to be fleeing the war in Syria aren’t really from Syria at all. So why are they claiming to be Syrian and streaming into Europe, and now the U.S. as well? An Islamic State operative gave the answer when he boasted in September 2015, shortly after the migrant influx began, that among the flood of refugees, 4,000 Islamic State jihadis had already entered Europe. True. But I would submit that during their sojourn into Egypt shortly thereafter, they "were" migrant workers (but certainly NOT either illegals or immigrants). I'm sure God provided, and that provision was almost certainly "work". Probably mostly for Joseph, but ????.
I might accept his Christian charity, except where is any desire to convert these Muslims to the true faith? Of course he doesn’t think that would be right. Subjecting them to conversion would be the one thing that could assimilate them.

It’s not an issue of an apt analogy, Mary and Joseph were chosen by God to parent Jesus Christ. Saying they or Jesus were “migrants” is liberal sophistry. It’s like using them in a Coppertone ad and saying they sported cool tans.

He ignores the scriptures and believes the worship the same deity. The Vatican has already proclaimed that on their website before this pope was even elected.

I think that the Pope needs to read his Bible instead of watching msnbc. Mary and Joseph were not escaping problems in their own land, but were returning to their (Joseph’s) home city to pay taxes.
They did not arrive in Bethlehem demanding help from the city, but just wanted a place to sleep for the night.
The Pope’s analogy is not even close.

Good point. I hadn't considered the gift of gold from that perspective. I would still bet that they used that very sparingly and as "emergency reserve only", and did plenty of work along the way. Certainly they were NOT immigrants of any sort, as their intent was to return to Nazareth ASAP.
