Psst, in other cities parks are being handed over to profitable “non-profit” unelected corporate interests.
In Houston the parks, the convention center, Astrodome, et al are going that way. Which is why they don’t want the Astrodome becoming a convention center. Houston F1rst doesn’t need TWO convention centers to manage.
Cities in America are a far way different (and not in a good way) that they were for hundreds of years in America.

Respectfully, the United States was preeminent in the state of South Carolina. The Battle Flag was removed from it’s place flying above the Capitol dome under the American Fla, POW/MIA flag and the state flag of South Carolina. It was moved to a memorial area on the statehouse grounds at part of a compromise. When the flag came down off the Capitol dome, those of us who are pro history, realized that was a stepping stone to the destruction of our history. As predicted, it didn’t stop there. The radicals used the convenient excuse of the Charleston church shootings to remove it entirely from it’s place of honor. It’s not going to stop there, it will continue until all vestiges of White culture are eliminated from public view in favor of the Hip Hop generation’s world view..
Let statues of the more honorable confederates like Lee remain, but the one of Gen. Forrest ought to be removed to a museum. Under his command, black union POWs who surrendered were brutally executed, making him a war criminal — as bad as the WWII Jap generals. Later he rose in the ranks of the KKK, as if he had not already done enough to oppress blacks. Today, we are still suffering from the sins committed in that era by men like him.
But let’s worry about statues.

Those are lies. Forrest ordered no massacre at Ft. Pillow, unlike Sherman who unleashed “total war” against Southern Civilians. Forrest was in fact the “first leader” of the Klan, but the Klan was not the terror organization it morphed into in it’s later days. Forrest ordered the Klan dissolved in 1869 after a series of attacks on freed slaves. The only people still suffering the sins of that era are those who refuse to leave the Democrat plantation.
That’s right why should the city decide? the whole damn State should be the one that decides if a historical monument gets torn down.

You are believing a fable. Any study of the primary records from both sides shows that is not true. The battle was lost the moment the Confederates took position on the flanks and in the old fort. Forrest asked for a surrender. The Union army chose to fight.
As for his leadership in the KKK. Reconstruction forced many Southern hands. When Brownloe was no longer governor, Forrest disbanded the klan in Tennessee.
He didn’t oppress blacks. The fought with him and alongside him. They considered him their friend.
