It Took Courage for Denzel Washington to Speak the Truth
newsmax ^ | Dec 16, 2017 | Michael Reagan

It is nothing short of amazing that an actor who has portrayed, how shall we say, "sanitized" versions of racial agitators like Malcolm X and Rubin "Hurricane" Carter can still maintain personal views that contradict the "America the Ugly" story the left would have us believe. And even more important, he’s willing to go public with those views regardless of how his heretical thinking could affect his career in the Cultural Marxism capital of the world: Hollywood.

Denzel Washington, during an interview, refused to employ the Opposition Media’s approved excuse of blaming the "system" for continual problems in the black community. He was discussing crime and the so-called "mass incarceration" that afflicts blacks: “So, you know, I can’t blame the system. It starts in the home. If the father is not in the home, the boy will find a father in the streets. I saw it in my generation and every generation before me — and every one since. "

Personal responsibility is not an argument that is going to be very popular among the left and members of the "caring" community. Not to mention in Hollywood, where stars would rather share a room in rehab with Donald Trump than own up to their own failures.

In the left’s mind individuals are powerless pawns at the mercy of irresistible forces beyond their control that force these pawns into lives of crime, addiction, or other forms of degradation.

Washington isn’t having any of it. He believes the biggest factor influencing the future of young blacks is the family. If it’s there and functioning properly children have an excellent chance of succeeding in life. And functioning properly means dad is at home.

Someday Blacks will realize the damage Democrats have done to them since the beginning of the Great Society and reject identity politics.

Johnson said in the 60’s: I’ll have those “blacks” voting Democrat for 100 years.

Well, it’s been 50 years now. I hope to heaven blacks aren’t going to continue to make that mistake for another 50. If so, there won’t be anything left at that point that resembles a real human. Just mindless shapes.

If the father is not in the home, the boy will find a father in the streets.

This is something many women will never understand. And selfish women or women with loose morals do permanent damage to their boys with their crappy life decisions.

Don’t just blame the women for this; on the other hand don’t just blame the men either.

Both parents need to make better decisions: to be serious about their sexual behavior; to get married and raise an intact family; to be faithful to their partners; to be employed and earn a decent living; to promote morality in their children; to join a faith denomination and attend regular church services; promote education, etc.

This is not just a black problem, but is seen in every group; just is more of a problem in the black community.

The effing “family” is not the answer. I work with “families” that ruin one another and teach their kids they are worthless. Kids are used to gain benefits or housing or TANF. That dog don’t hunt.

Some “families” are a curse and not a blessing. The best remedy is to get these kids out of their shit8y situation and into some sort of normalcy; it’s a culture war, not a “family” issue; accepting that life involves educating and supporting oneself, not preying on one another.

Sundays rant. Born white, in 1944 I looked into a mirror and wished many times I would have been born black. I am aghast, puzzled and perplexed, that as LONG as black people can blame Washington, Robert E. Lee and the Confederate flag, and now the Stars and Stripes. Their problems will NEVER cease. So last night I took my own tour through my collected files to discover what BLACK kids are watching. YOU ought to do a Google Search of the 10 most famous rappers. All black. All of the lyrics are either drugs, sex, or anti police.
Try sometime watching the Black Entertainment Channel, the slime, the references to whores, drugs, illicit sex. That guy who used to do the kneeling at the NFL games, who is unemployed. WHEN will he begin to start complaining about high school drop outs, low hanging pants. When HE HIMSELF perpetuates their life long dreams is to get in major league Football, Baseball, or Basketball.
Once in a while a Dr. Ben Carson shows up on the scene, and they call him bad names.
Or...tell me who they have chosen for their iconic heros, to follow the example. Jesse Jackson who gets women pregnant..while married to another, or his son who goes to jail. I think it would be GREAT if they learned real English, could write a great composition and express lofty ideals, rather than shout explicit f words into social media cell phone clips. I am sorry, I have no tolerance for them. So am I a racists? Some would say so.

Hang on a sec though, how come the author is talking about personal responsibility and then giving people who grew up in fatherless households an excuse for becoming societal dregs? I’ve got more than one friend who grew up in a single mother household who didn’t grow up to be a POS.

Cut off all welfare, unless there is a father in the home.

The kids will still get free healthy meals at school; but they won’t be able to get $100 Nikes.

The mothers won’t be able to sponge off the kid’s payments.

There will be a financial incentive to remain as a family unit, not to break that unit up.

Not perfect? No, not by a long shot. But there has to be a move towards retaining families, not, as now, an incentive for breaking them up.

I don’t think he’s really giving anyone an excuse.

On the one hand, if I decide that my life, and the life of my kids is automatically ruined because nameless, faceless white guys far away have ordained that people like me cannot succeed — then it must be pointless for me to make an effort. That’s “making excuses”.

But if I say that good parenting makes a difference, then there is something actionable. Perhaps my parents didn’t do a great job. But that’s not an excuse for me to do a bad job. If I work at being a good parent, perhaps my kids can have a better life than I had. It’s something I can take responsibility for.

I think Denzel is saying something that needs to be said.

It’s amazing how the Great Society not only managed to harm the black community in the United States, but also black communities and countries all over the world. Democrats in Zimbabwe are the real racists!!!

You could have Dad not be there, and still have the kid come out OK, if there were grandfathers, uncles and male cousins helping to fulfill the role of male mentor. But when just about all the males he knows are people with criminal records and no steady work history, then the kid has got a problem.

I agree with that...or something like that.

One of the biggest problems in the black "community" is illegitimate children...which become the responsibility of taxpayers.

It's time to make the "baby daddy" responsible for his actions. Shift the burden from the taxpayer to the person responsible for causing the problem. Some people need to learn to be accountable for their actions.

The men have some responsibility, but it's the WOMEN who have the ultimate power in this society in this area, and thus must assume the major responsibility for the mess.

Our society needs to make it less viable for women to have babies with men they KNOW will not be good role models for the children they spawn.

That's been tried, and it's a failure. Yes, you can go after the dad, and try to garnish his pay for child support. The net result is that the men who impregnate the women will be gang thugs with no "official" wages to garnish, no fixed address (living with whichever woman he's sleeping with this week), and indeed no known identity (you think the thug is going to give the woman his real name and social security number?).

As an alternative, eliminate welfare. Give poor women NO CHOICE but to find a man who will stably support her, and do whatever she needs to do to keep him. I would go as far as eliminate enforced child support.

Where do you think culture is formed? It's formed in families — so it absolutely is a family issue. The whole culture war is a family issue, why do you think that the whole thrust of the culture war is to undermine the family?

Yep. “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” (Wallace)

Women have always been the “rulers” in the Western World since the adoption of the Christian worldview which put women on a pedestal.

Men don’t have to apologize for ANYTHING—the women do. They create the “man” by how they train and teach the babies and little boys. If they choose evil fathers, they will get evil boys. If they don’t love and nurture and bond with their babies, they create monsters, whether male or female.
