A student has described going through “mental torture” after a rape case against him was thrown out in court because police had failed to hand over more than 40,000 messages from his accuser.
Liam Allan, 22, faced up to ten years in jail charged with six counts of rape and six counts of sexual assault against a young woman over a 14-month period that began when he was 19.
The criminology student at Greenwich University had spent nearly two years on bail and three days in Croydon Crown Court when the trial was stopped in a dramatic fashion after it emerged police officers had failed to hand over evidence that proved his innocence.
The alleged victim had claimed she did not enjoy sex, while Mr Allan claimed it was consensual and she was acting maliciously because he refused to see her after he returned to university.
Now, the judge has called for an inquiry at the “very highest level” to understand why police failed to hand over critical evidence including 40,000 messages from the accuser to Mr Allan and friends.

The below email I sent in response to a discussion evidently created some excitement with some members of my family. Oh well, at my age if I can’t be notorious I will likely be ignored.
“In order to be popularly accepted as a moral and ethical person now you must subscribe to the statement that whatever a woman has to say about sexual harassment is true. That does not work for me in terms of my understanding of the human condition. But then maybe my perception is influenced by my position that holding a popular view means I have not looked carefully at an issue.”

My 17-year-old is texting her boyfriend practically all day. 100 messages seems reasonable, keeping in mind that many of them are: LOL. K. WYD. (What you doing?) and other barely verbal drivel.
40,000 messages? That takes neurosis to a whole new level!

It seems to me that it’s just as dangerous INSIDE the bonds of marriage.

Trial hadn’t started yet and the first prosecutor was ignoring the evidence.
This case involved no one who was married. The girls mom brought in a boyfriend who is a pedophile.
The victim got pregnant and she and her boyfriend went and killed the perp
This thing happens more then is exposed. I was looking at 10 years because a so called lady claimed charges against me. Nothing happened to her. Thank God I exposed her.
She should go to jail for precisely the length of time the accused WOULD have had to serve if he were convicted. False accusations of rape would plummet real quickly if that were common practice.
Because, at their core, they’re cowards.
