My understanding is that the Trump legal team expected a request from Mueller for these documents, and were prepared to turn them over when asked. However, during the questioning of WH personnel which took place this week, the Trump legal team discovered that Mueller was already in possession of documents, even ones that the Trump people considered privileged, and that the documents had been obtained by Mueller illegally from the GSA, on whose servers the transition teams emails had been hosted.
This is a big deal.
It looks like somebody at the GSA and/or Mueller’s office jumped the gun (to put it mildly). This will make any future criminal prosecution based on these materials problematic on 4th Amendment grounds.
Impeachment, however, is another matter. It is a purely political process. The emails can easily be illegally leaked to further that end, just like how Jack Ryan’s sealed divorce records were mysteriously leaked to torpedo Ryan’ candidacy in his race against Barack Obama for the US Senate.
It is all simply politics driven by the need to achieve the desired end by any means necessary.
CNN is now complaining about Fox News reporting the news. I will not rest satisfied in this life until every management person at CNN is ultimately hanged for treason.

The leaking has already started. There was a bogus story in the Compost on Friday about Jared Kushner hiring a “crisis” PR team, and some of the details appeared to be related to these transition emails.

Yes , it does seem that Mueller WANTS to get fired, and if I put on my tinfoil hat I might even conjecture that pulling gambits like this GSA stunt are done to increase the likelihood of that eventuality.
But why?
My suspicion is that Mueller and his dirty gang would MUCH PREFER the martyrdom of being canned and the subsequent scandal than being forced to hold a press conference in which they are compelled to admit that they have nothing on Trump. And they have nothing on Trump.

President Trump is smart enough not to fire him and start an impeachment scenario from the enemedia.
As Mueller continues to use questionable tactics with a compromised team, the investigation becomes tainted past credibility.

My prediction: Mueller will wind down the investigation soon.
The big question is wast will trumps lawyers do besides complain like congress which amounts to nothing? Trump lawyer Cobb says the investigation will end by the end of December. That is a joke Mueller just ask Deutsche Bank for Flynn’s records. Mueller could care less about Flynn’s records he is doing this to get at Trump records. After WW II and Ike was president he ask for information on what was going on in area 51. He was told that he could not get that information because it was classified. Ike reply was he was send his people down there to get this information on what was going on and if they did not get it he would send the 1st army out of CO down and rip the base apart. No, this is not simply emails to/from GSA, the whole Trump transition team had email accounts hosted on servers maintained by GAS. That does not necessarily mean there is something problematic, but these are tens of thousands of emails sent and received by at least a dozen Trump transition officials.
