What if you won a war and nobody showed up to report on it?

Given all that, why the virtual media silence on the subject?

Because the MSM loves ISIS. It's everything they want to be.

The media deliberately and intentionally suppressed this piece of information. It was done with full knowledge and awareness. They support the jihadis, and are sad that this has happened to their best buds. The left’s dream of turning this country into a m*slim paradise has just gone down the tubes.

” We” didnt win
The Russians won
They cracked the ISIS network with full conventional airpower and coordinated operations with Syrian military and Iranian/ shia militia
The reason they didn't go into Iraq was because we stepped up our game when it was reported the Iraqis were going to ask for Russian help

Their exposure of our duplicity in supporting ISIS and Russia's commitment to their ally Assad ( which was widely admired throughout the region) shamed and spurred US into finally turning on the islamist butchers so we could claim a reason to keep military bases in Iraq - and Syria

I generally don’t like mass hangings in third world countries, but Iraq did good last week.

Well the Mission Accomplished came from a banner on the USS Lincoln and it was for the officers and crew of the USS Lincoln whose Mission was accomplished. President Bush clearly stated at the time "Our mission continues" and "We have difficult work to do in Iraq," President Bush never uttered the phrase "Mission Accomplished"

“Cronkite declared the Tet Offensive a big success for the NVC, although the NVC were resoundingly beaten to a pulp in most instances.”

General Giap later admitted that the Tet offensive was their last gasp effort.
The bombing of the.north had done it’s job. He stated that six more months of bombing would have won the war for the US.
They counted on Cronkite and the media to win the day for them and it worked.

I haven’t trusted any media since then. To me Cronkite was the LEAST trusted man in America.

I’ve heard much the same story reported out as the thinking of the citizens of the North too. They had had enough.

I agree with your take on this overall.

All of Vietnam could have wound up as a nice self-governing nation if we had waged war instead of a political campaign at home.

None of the big and little named Lefties had one word to say about the millions killed in Vietnam and Cambodia after the war.

Just remember, they cared SO SO MUCH about the poor mistreated (by the US) people over there.

Pure malarkey.

Jane Fonda didn’t have one word to say during or after Cambodia killed off half it’s population.

Everybody knows that answer: because it isn't the war the media have any interest in reporting. There is only one war that they care about, and that is theirs on Donald Trump. That is the only one that merits their time.

Many on FR have known and stated all along that the war against ISIS changed when the Caliphate was declared. Now they had to hold and defend territory, now they had to come out of the shadows into a straight-up fight or lose. And we predicted as well that they would lose because that isn't the nature of terrorism, and yes, they lost.

That this was not an exclusive American victory is no excuse for not reporting it. Neither Gulf War was, nor was World War II. Less obvious is widespread media recognition that the war had changed, because let's face it, the media aren't all that good at that sort of reporting and have become drastically less competent since Trump's election. There can be no clear-cut victory against terrorism, but there could against the Caliphate. That isn't a small point.

And so back to the usual carping, toxic Narrative: move the goalposts, declare that no victory is complete unless the world is perfect, that people in the Middle East still don't like us (no kidding?), that sure, it's a win but it isn't all that important. It's an easy cheat, and you get to do it if everybody cheats together, if the media coverage is 90% anti-Trump and if they mean to keep it that way.

But it may not matter in the long run, because the victory is real and its fruits will give the Middle East yet another chance to go another direction, however unlikely that may turn out to be. We honor the men and women who have risked or given their lives in its pursuit and we don't fall for the false lure of publicity or celebrity, because the ones who intend to withhold that aren't worthy of conferring it anyway.

After TET II in May of 1968 some of us stared calling Cu Chi the little house on the Prairie. Starting in Nov. 68 you could not drive any where in our Division Area with out getting shot at.

After TET II the action moved to the area around the Cambodian border, the quiet was unnerving.

Saw your note with the year correction. Would I be correct in thinking there was a primary and secondary Tet Offensive then?

I would then take it the one in 1968, really changed things.

Nice to hear this from someone who was on the ground there at the time.

Why it almost makes it sound like we could have won the war.

Who knew?

Thanks for your service in that terrible situation over there.

Not only was morale bad in the north but they were unable to function as a country.
Only support from the Soviets and Chicoms kept them afloat and even that wasn’t enough.

I met a family that lived through the aftermath of the war.
The young ladies dad had been an American soldier who was killed there.
Her mother married a Vietnamese man who raised her.
Her step dad had been ARVN. Because of his military record and her being undoubtedly mixed race her family was given “special attention” by the communists.

Over a period of time they opened up to us and told about the jailings, beatings and rapes.
Imagine being tied up and having to watch your wife being gang raped over and over.
You could see the physical scars but I couldn’t imagine the emotional scars.

They finally escaped and made their way here.
I was honored to be a guest when they received their citizenship. To say tears were flowing would be a huge understatement.

Jane Fonda and the other antiwar/antiAmerica idiots can kiss my chapped buttocks.
I have a white hot hatred for their kind.

We’ve declared victory in that region many times in the last 15 years. And yet we still have people in harm’s way. Let me know when nothing has blown up for 6 months, then we can start taking about having won the war.

Those are what I call true refugees, that we have an obligation to help. Our nations should be there for them, no doubt about it.

The situation they endured, was pure hell. I’m so sorry about what they had to go through.

As for Jane, she has been the one single person in my life that I have literally hated since the war.

I don’t like what Obama, McCain, the Clintons, and others were up to, but I’ve never come to literally hate them like I do her.

She went to the enemy camp clear around the world for her own gratification. Jezebel had nothing on her.

She sold out our men in the Hanoi Hilton. Too bad the NVC didn’t put her up against a wall and rid us of that POS.

Thanks for the opportunity to vent.

I met a young VN girl who was working at a book store at U Alabama, when my daughter attended. Pure redneck accent, cracked me up, what a nice kid. To young for the war.

The left and the MSM (redundant I know) have bastardised the definition of “refugee”.
The Vietnamese refugees went through hell to get here. And most became solid country loving citizens. They embraced American culture while sharing the best of their own.

The current crop of “refugees” are nothing more than invaders who bring the worst of their “culture” and expect us to bow to them as they leech our wealth and vitality.

“As for Jane, she has been the one single person in my life that I have literally hated since the war.”

I never thought an attractive woman could be so dark, ugly and vile on the inside.
There are thousands waiting to empty their bladders on her grave.
Me included.

“Thanks for the opportunity to vent.”

We all need to do it from time to time.
Keeps the BP down and settles the spirit.
Glad I could help. :-)

When a victory church is built on the ruins of Mecca and Mad Moes Mafia has been utterly crushed like the Thuggies of India, then I’ll celebrate the end of Islams endless war.

The second and third generations go native.
A Vietnamese girl with a southern accent?
I Love It!

There used to be an Asian comic who grew up in Oklahoma. Typical Asian appearance but pure Oklahoma accent and outlook.
He was hilarious.

I know an English lady who married an American businessman.
He was transferred back stateside when he was promoted.
She has a beautiful English accent and uses British slang.

She has two complaints.
1. Not a decent pub with fish and chips in the entire US.

2. Her school aged children are developing “bloody American accents.”
