Sen. Bob Corker To Vote 'Yes' On Tax Bill

Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), the final Republican holdout on the tax bill, is now planning to vote "yes" on the bill. Corker's office made this announcement on Friday, shortly before the final text of the bill was due to be released at 5:30 p.m. EST.

Previously, Corker said that he was concerned about the bill's effect on the deficit. Now, while he still does not think that this bill is perfect and he would have preferred to have reached a more bipartisan consensus on parts of the legislation, will vote for this "once-in-a-generation opportunity" to make businesses more competitive.

"This bill is far from perfect, and left to my own accord, we would have reached bipartisan consensus on legislation that avoided any chance of adding to the deficit and far less would have been done on the individual side with items that do not generate economic growth.

"But after great thought and consideration, I believe that this once-in-a-generation opportunity to make U.S. businesses domestically more productive and internationally more competitive is one we should not miss. [...]

With Corker joining Rubio in support of the bill, this all but assures its passage. Unlike Rubio, however, it doesn't appear as though any of Corker's concerns were taken into account to adjust the language of the bill.

Clue me to what Trump lied about ?

He lied that we would get tired of winning. It was sarcasm. I'm not tired of winning. He's doing great.

Think what Trump could do with a little support ! If McCain passes and we get Kelli Ward that would be a start.

Corker doesn’t want his legacy to be one of the Senators that voted no and helped wipe out the Repub majorities ...

He’s probably just doing this so Cochran and/or McCain don’t have to be brought in due to their health and he’s going to essentially be a defacto proxy vote.

You have to read more than the first line of his comment.

I absolutely despise Little Corker. Voted for him years ago in Tennessee.... What a fraud the man has turned out to be. His arrogance is despicable.

Why is it that when the government is spending us all into oblivion no one worries about the deficit, but propose even a small tax cut and suddenly “we can’t afford it?” This idiocy of viewing tax cuts as “costing” something drives me crazy. We cant raise taxes high enough to dig our way out of the debt hole we’re already in (especially because of the reduction in economic activity it would cause). The only way to accomplish that is to enlarge the pie by growing the economy, which this tax bill is intended to at least begin to do.

Good. Now once it passes Trump needs to appoint IRS personnel who will insist on Social Security numbers for the earned interest tax credit. Any return without a legitimate social security number gets an automatic audit of the last three years returns and no refund paid until that is completed. The fact that they are three years behind in auditing shouldn’t make a difference.

“...Cannot wait to hear about his funeral...”

Lot of that going around these days.

One in Arizona, especially, I hear...
