There is inspiration in the Alabama outcome.
American political standards made a comeback. Roy Moore’s loss was not a setback for the GOP; it was a setback for freakishness,an assertion of prudential judgment by the electorate, and came as a relief.
A friend landed at JFK on election night. As the plane taxied to the gate, the pilot came on the PA and announced that Doug Jones was in the lead. The entire plane, back to front, burst into applause. “A big broad nerve was hit in this thing,” said the friend.
Primary voters should absorb what happened after they picked Moore. There is something we have been saying in this space since the Sarah Palin experience. Suddenly to seem real and authentic some Republican candidates thought they had to be polar and extreme. But these are not indications of authenticity. They are a sign voters are being played, probably by a grifter.
Which gets us to President Trump. Mr. Trump’s political malpractice has been to fail, since his election, to increase his popularity. He has failed to do so, primarily due to his self-indulgence---His tweets, his immaturity, his screwball resentments and self-pity alienate and offend.
Can this man lead through a crisis? That is the question that has to be on your mind when you think about North Korea. No one looks forward to finding the answers to these questions.
Donald Trump has been a great gift to the Democrats. Those who support serious probes to answer big questions and thus support the Russia investigations, as I do, hope whatever findings come from the special counsel are and can be treated with respect.
Snotty, partisan text messages between FBI investigators expressed anti-Trump biases. The FBI, Justice Department and special counsel should be running a tighter ship.

Brooks supporters were so pissed off that they supported Moore -- who was a principled conservative but was probably the only GOP candidate who could have possibly lost the election to a Democrat -- in the runoff against Strange.

They can’t bus in votes across state lines in a general election.
This being a special election, they were able to move a large mass of fraudulent votes in from non-voting ajacent states.

I believe this...even people who are not driven by politics will default to a position that favors ‘good taste’; for example, it is in better taste to express support for a guy who is not accused of sexual misadventures than the guy who is, regardless of any other factors...
That’s exactly what I thought. Even though the plane was in New York, I’m sure the passengers were from all over since that is a central hub.

That is all that was learned, and you can bet that from now on almost EVERY SINGLE ELECTION where Dems even sniff a chance of it working will involve accusations of sexual misconduct on the part of the Republican.
And they will continue to do that until Republicans finally show that they are not stupid idiots that can be lead around by the nose by the media.
