UNLV professor punished pro-Trump student with bad grades, resigns
Red Alert Politics ^ | July 14, 2017 | Siraj Hashmi

Ever since Donald Trump was elected president in November, liberal professors have been taking out their frustrations on their conservative and Trump-supporting students.

At the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, College Republican President Jacob Deaville filed a formal complaint against his professor for discriminatory intent and unfair grading practices all because of his politics. The professor, who Deaville wished to remain unnamed since he was informed of his resignation from UNLV on Friday, taught a summer course called “Summer Cuisine,” which he took to fulfill an international cultures requirement for graduation.

While the class was completely apolitical, the instructor singled out Deaville, a rising senior, for his conservative politics after he sent the teacher an email with his College Republican signature embedded at the end. In an interview with Red Alert Politics, Deaville said that he didn’t think much of it when he sent the email before the first day of class with his signature.

“The first thing he did [in class] was come out and make a joke about Donald Trump, and he made it about three or four times until I acknowledged him, and then he continued,” Deaville recalled, saying the joke was bizarre. “It had to do with the President’s comments in Israel, saying ‘I just got back from the Middle East.’ But he was still in Israel. He made a joke at that. He stared at me until I acknowledged what he was saying.”

Even though the joke itself wasn’t enough to accuse the professor for discrimination, all grades made by the professor that required his discretion became gigantic red flags. When it came to multiple choice quizzes, he got over 90 percent correct on all of them.

“I really didn’t think much of it,” Deaville continued. “But at the end of the first week, I had a negative-17 in participation.”

He explained that he’s never gotten and has never met anyone who had a negative number in participation before because that particular metric is graded on a scale from 0 to 25.

Deaville told Red Alert that he spoke to the professor a number of times to get clarification from the professor on why his grades were being affected. He even recalled an unflattering exchange the professor had with a colleague in front of him during class about his politics, suggesting that the colleague would “never hold” a student’s politics against them.

“I truly believe he had compromised judgement because of his reserved feelings for the president,” Deaville said. “He was kind of taking it out on me.”

The professor even changed the deadline on an assignment when he knew Deaville was in transit from the CRNC convention in Washington, DC, and reduced his grade as a result.

Deaville said he had enough and filed a formal complaint. The department chair announced on Friday that the professor had resigned and they would be conducting an audit on his grades. Now, he expects his grade to be an A as a result, instead of a B+.

“It doesn’t seem like that big of an issue to go from a B to an A,” Deaville said, but agreed that it’s pretty messed up to go from an A to a B for political reasons.

Deaville went on to say that with the professor’s resignation, he does not expect to pursue further legal action.

This incident is just the latest at UNLV after a professor called President Trump a “syphilitic Nazi in the white man’s house.” He later apologized for his remarks.

I would. I love making money off a leftard’s misery. Conservatives are effing weak nowadays. After 8 years of getting our asses kicked during the last regime, NOW is the time to step on the left’s throats..

Plain and simple. Liberals are mean people. Period. I think a lot of it has to do with hating themselves.

The “professor” needs to be named, so that he NEVER works at a college again. The right never follows through on victory, we always let the enemy slink away to fight again.

Very true and I am starting to act plain nasty to them because of their attitudes and their blatant Anti-Americanism.

Universities and colleges are marketplaces of ideas.
Unfortunately there is only one house brand: `Left’.

international cultures requirement

Somehow I got through high school and college without an ICR. I'm pretty sure such courses weren't even offered.

Does UNLV have any English Literature or Western requirements?

Plain and simple. Liberals are mean people. Period. I think a lot of it has to do with hating themselves.
“Liberalism” (scare quotes denote that the term was, according to Safire’s New Political Dictionary, inverted in meaning in the 1920s and now has - in America, at least, no relation to its etymology) is socialism. And, all protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, the true meaning of socialism is best understood as “cynicism toward society - and concomitant naiveté towards government.”

Note that in the opening paragraphs of his famous 1776 book Common Sense, Thomas Paine demolishes the conceit that “society” and “government” are the same, or even similar:

SOME writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes our happiness POSITIVELY by uniting our affections, the latter NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron, the last a punisher.

Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one: for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries BY A GOVERNMENT, which we might expect in a country WITHOUT GOVERNMENT, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer. Government, like dress, is the badge of lost innocence; the palaces of kings are built upon the ruins of the bowers of paradise. For were the impulses of conscience clear, uniform and irresistibly obeyed, man would need no other lawgiver; but that not being the case, he finds it necessary to surrender up a part of his property to furnish means for the protection of the rest; and this he is induced to do by the same prudence which in every other case advises him, out of two evils to choose the least. Wherefore, security being the true design and end of government, it unanswerably follows that whatever form thereof appears most likely to ensure it to us, with the least expense and greatest benefit, is preferable to all others.

Cynicism, especially cynicism towards society, is extreme ingratitude. And in essence, according to Dennis Prager, ingratitude is unhappiness.

I taught Marketing and Advertising classes at an American University with a branch campus in Sweden.

First day of every class, I announced that I would fail any student that wore a Che Guevara shirt to class! Ended up with a couple as class thank you gifts!

According to the University of Nevada-Las Vegas 2017 Summer Term Schedule - Food and Beverage Administration there were three "Cuisine" courses offered during this past summer (a fourth course was cancelled). The CRNC convention in Washington, DC, was from Thurs thru Sunday, June 15-18, 2017. Returning from that convention would have taken place during only one of those courses.
