Yes, Investigate the Investigators
National Review ^ | December 14, 2017

The Department of Justice and the FBI are developing a credibility problem. The last two weeks have brought a blizzard of revelations about the anti-Trump political predilections of top FBI officials and prosecutors in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office, perhaps none more eye-popping than a just-revealed text from Peter Strzok, a top FBI intelligence agent.

In August 2016, Strzok, who played a lead-investigator role in the Hillary Clinton–emails investigation, flatly stated that the FBI could not “take that risk,” referring to the possibility that Donald Trump might be elected president. He made the statement in a message to Lisa Page, a bureau lawyer with whom he was having an extramarital affair. Strzok referred to an alternative FBI “path” regarding Trump’s “unlikely” election that Page had proposed during a meeting they’d attended in “Andy’s office” — meaning deputy director Andrew McCabe, the bureau’s number-two official, second only to then-director James Comey.

While more context is necessary to understand the meaning of the text and what transpired in the meeting in McCabe’s office, the message raises the possibility that top bureau officials were infecting investigations with their personal political views. This would be a concern in any circumstance, but especially in this one. The FBI’s Clinton-email and Trump-Russia investigations have been extremely fraught politically — with the latter morphing into Mueller’s Russia probe, which conceivably could result in an impeachment referral.

Thanks Reaganaut1.

Can any of these liberal investigators spell OJ? Just a suspicion of bias in previous acts by one of the investigators, not actually related to the murder investigation, was enough to spoil the credibility of the investigation and the outcome.

In this case we have multiple written statements by multiple persons in the inquiry focused DIRECTLY upon Trump who is the real target in this case. Nothing that comes out of the Mueller Special Counsel is free of this obvious bias and while it might indeed find some process error as in the Michael Flynn guilty plea the conclusions reached by Mueller will be forever tainted by the obvious bias shown by his dream team. Throw the bums out; they are soiled beyond redemption.

Why did the FBI give an opportunity for Steele to "brief" them on his opposition research work for the Democrats? I really want to know why the FBI met with a HRC campaign worker, in the form of an ex British spy, to brief them on his research against Trump?

Did the Trump campaign get an opportunity to "brief" the FBI on their opposition research on HRC?

Without question, many of the investigators are virulently anti-Trump. We get that. We hate that.

Similarly, the left would be raising hell if they discovered Mueller stacked the team with a bunch of Trump supporters.

So, what? Is it reasonable to demand he finds investigators who are "agnostic" regarding the president? Good luck finding one who's both qualified and unbiased, let alone a full team.

In the end, this isn't about bias. Everyone is going to be biased. It's about INTEGRITY. Can we trust that these investigators will acknowledge and set aside their personal biases, and won't destroy or fabricate evidence?

And really, Mr. Mueller, was it too much to expect that half of your investigators would NOT be militant Democrats, at least for appearance's sake?!
