Fox News put its credibility on the line when it released a new poll on Monday that shows liberal Democrat Doug Jones leads conservative Republican Roy Moore by 10 points, 50 percent to 40 percent, in tomorrows special election for the U.S. Senate in Alabama.
The contrast between the results reported by Fox News and every other recent major poll could not be sharper.
Earlier on Monday, an Emerson Poll was released that shows Moore up by nine points, 53 percent to 44 percent.
The five other most recent polls featured in the Real Clear Politics Average of Polls all show Moore in the lead.
The Fox News Poll released on Monday was under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), and included a respondent sample of likely voters that included 44 percent Republicans, 42 percent Democrats, and 14 percent independents (Republican +2) (see political identification after question 7 here), which significantly oversamples Democrats.
One way to understand the actual voting behavior of Alabamians is to look at the results of the 2016 election in the state. President Trump defeated Hillary Clinton by a margin of 28 points, 63 percent to 35 percent.

Not so much FNC, but who they contracted to run the poll, no? I’d read somewhere the turnout model was R+2... widely at variance with the others that showed at least an R+10 turnout.

When Moore wins by ten, how superfluous is FoxNews going to look?
Man, they’ll look absolutely worthless.

I understand Fox News has an agenda, just like CNN, MSNBC. Journalism is dead, in the words of one of their employees. What’s disappointing is that their personalities, with some exceptions, have fallen into lock step with this agenda. OANN is looking better all the time. That being said, there is too much good coming out of FNC for me to turn them off completely. Once Moore wins and this nonsense is over, I’ll go back to Judge Jeanine, Laura Ingraham and my other favorites.

This is written as if Fox has any remaining credibility.
They have none.
Any discharges from that sewer are just that.
Why anyone gives credence is puzzling.

What was incredible was that a couple of weeks ago, Fox News did a huge, 3-day poll and found a landslide coming for Moore. So they immediately did a quick, tiny, one-day poll by hired DC political consultants to find a sizeable lead for Jones, and published that instead.

Fox New’s polls lost total credibility, when in 2016, it predicted losses for Trump in basically every primary and with Illiarily.

Fox News is back in action with the single most ridiculous, psy-op engineered, agenda polls in the last several years…. and coming from a CTH community that has reviewed hundreds of media polls in the past 5 years, that’s quite a statement. Consider:
(Emerson Poll Link) -vs- (Fox News Poll Link)
Both of these cannot be correct. The margin of error claimed is +/- 2.5%. There is a NINETEEN point difference between both Alabama Polls. However, only ONE is a media driven agenda poll. Can you guess which one?
Yes, once again, the Rupert Murdoch clan are up to their media-polling tricks utilizing Daron Shaw. Shaw and Associates, is more appropriately identified as a political action committee of the GOPe, and have been used by Fox News, exhaustively and exclusively, for years to engineer narratives on behalf of the republican establishment. This time the narrative is so obvious Fox News deserves public humiliation.
Within the Fox Poll Daron Shaw intentionally manipulates the group being polled. They poll R+2 (meaning only two percent more republicans than democrats) in a state that voted R+28 in the most recent election. Essentially Fox has paid Daron Shaw to give them a poll as if Democrats and Republicans are equal in the number of registered voters the state.
They’re not.
Not even close.
Alabama is to Republicans (49-35), what California is to Democrats (43-28). (link)
Hopefully the people of Alabama will see through this manipulation and use this opportunity to crush the agenda-driven polling constructs of Fox News.
