Dems hope Bredesen can still win over TN voters
The Hill ^ | December 9. 2017

Former Gov. Phil Bredesen’s (D) entry into Tennessee’s Senate race could be a big win for Democrats, who feel his unique strengths could give them a rare shot at a Senate seat in the red state

Bredesen was the last Democrat to win statewide office in the state, emboldening Democrats who think he can buck Tennessee’s drift towards the GOP and fill the seat now held by Republican Sen. Bob Corker.

But several other former lawmakers’ failed bids for the Senate in the last cycle election cycle have some observers openly wondering whether Bredesen, who has been off the campaign trail for more than a decade, can successfully reenter the political arena.

If I lived in TN, I sure in hell wouldn’t be voting for Corker.

Al Gore was going to carry his home state in 2000, too.

Corker carried Tenn over Harold Ford by only about 3%. Corker’s RINO characteristics almost lost him that senate seat.

Marsha Blackburn will win the seat by double digits over Bredeson (if he is the Dem nominee).

I think Marsha Blackburn will beat Bredesen without much trouble.

No, a Democrat isn’t going to win the seat.

Bredesen will carry Memphis and, maybe, Nashville. I have seen no evidence he can tell UpChuck to go f#ck himself. Corker got his a$$ f#cked by jOkeass, he was a non-entity.

I do live in Tennessee and can’t figure out who the hell voted for that jackass. No one I know. Of course, who would admit it?

TN went Trump by 60% in 2016. I think Marsha will get it pretty handily. She is also from West TN which should help her get some of the votes Bredeson might get if she wasn’t.

Bredesen saved Tennessee from the TennCare debacle. He was a more fiscally conservative governor than his Republican predecessor, and he didn’t push a radical agenda, so he is remembered as a solid governor. Depending on his opponent, he might have a shot. It’s been a while and we are in the era of Trump so I’m doubting he can win. However, I’d hang the Clinton, Pelosi, Obama and Schumer around his neck just to make sure.

“Bredesen will carry Memphis and, maybe, Nashville....”

Believe it or not, 2 years ago Memphis elected a White Republican Mayor. He has done a pretty good job and the city seems like it is working through racial issues. Memphis has some very good black pastor leaders from what I have read that have a good network.
