Gerard Araud tweeted Thursday afternoon that “In this Pearl Harbor day, we should remember that the US refused to side with France and the UK to confront the fascist powers in the 30s.”

Huh? France, politically speaking, was a disaster in the 1930s. Governments came and went so quickly it was hard to keep track of whom was in power and rarely did one last a year, some only a matter of days. If they had offered only token resistance when the Germans reoccupied the Rhineland the German forces would have skedaddled.

And then when the shooting war did begin, the French were quite content to sit behind their Maginot Line and simply wait for the Germans to attack.

I just don't think their heart was in it for a second go-round. And after the casualties of the First World War, maybe there is some justification there.

Definitely, up yours, France.
We lost a lot of good men, my grandfather and a couple of uncles, liberating their sorry azzes.....twice!!! Maybe we should have just let Krauts have their way with them and the Brits back in the 40s.
Hey, Gerard Araud when, not if, you idiots start screaming for deliverance from the muzzle head choppers, you can go kiss our yankee azzes, you socialist froggy thankless POS.

The Hitler-Stalin pact was in effect. The US communists were all in favor of staying out of the war, until Hitler attacked Stalin in June 1941. In August, the US embargoed oil exports to Japan (we supplied 80% of their oil at the time) leaving Japan little choice but to attack us before they ran out of oil.

Meanwhile the French communists made sure that Stalin's ally Hitler strolled right in.

And when Hitler went into Poland leaving a wide exposed flank, what did the French do?

Training maneuvers. Soldiers! Arms up! Arms down. Arms up! Arms down. Arms up!

WWII was started on June 28 1919 . Stupid French wanted to punish and recoup costs and sewed the seeds of another war.

When the front was collapsing, Churchill begged the French government to move to North Africa with their fleet and as much of the army as they could take to continue the fight. Instead, the government surrendered to Germany and installed the collaborationist and fascist Vichy regime. So much for “confronting fascism,” eh France?

Versailles has been called the roadmap to WWII. I agree with that. France deserved what she got.

Ahh, the Frenchies....always good to hear the Cheese-Eating Surrender Monkey faction complaining about America.

Why did the French plant so many trees in Paris?
So the Germans could march in the shade.

Maybe American GIs shouldn’t have worn condoms with French Hookers ... they could have injected some manhood back into the French.

Another country letting themselves be overrun - again.

Your point “b” makes me think of people like my great grandmother who immigrated here from Norway then ended up having 4 of her American born sons drafted to fight a European war. Even moving half a world away wasn’t enough.

My mom said Grandma H. was absolutely set against socialism and fired many letters off to FDR warning him of its evils. Different times!

Suck it, surrender monkey.
