Why not appoint a special council to investigate Mueller and his “team” and the entire FBI, since appalling corruption and politicization have been revealed?

Not only has he effectively destroyed any prosecution of Trump, he has invited the DOJ and Congress to take another look at Clinton, Abedin and Mills among others...lock her up is back on the menu.

in any prosecution brought by Mueller against a Republican target, defense counsel would be entitled under the Constitution to all evidence in the government’s possession relevant to exploring the apparent biases of FBI agent Peter Strzok and his animosity toward Trump and the Republican Party. This, in and of itself, could be a case-killer because it is very unlikely that Mueller or the DOJ would want defense counsel poring through all the records and documents, emails, and texts in the DOJ’s and Strzok’s possession revealing the agent’s biases since this could fatally undermine any other cases or investigations the agent has worked on—such as the FBI’s decision to recommend charging General Flynn with lying to federal agents even though Hillary Clinton’s besties, Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin, were given a free pass despite apparently doing the same thing.
The question before the house is, “Can - and if so, how - President Trump compel Muller to

  1. admit that he cannot bring charges against any Republican without the above disclosure, and

  2. having admitted that, either spill those beans a priori or close up shop.

What will it take for Sessions to ever do his job.

As was stated by one of the Republican Congressmen today when interviewing the FBI director, Sessions has so far been unable to even clarify exactly where his recusal begins, and ends. He's either corrupt, being blackmailed, or over his head. My vote is over his head, and afraid to actually confront someone, but at some point Trump is responsible for appointing him, and letting the vipers at the DoJ subsequently run wild.

Trump needs to forcefully back his those leading the investigations in Congress, to get more cover from the legislative branch, then put someone in charge of DoJ who actually has some moxie. Someone like Sherriff David Clarke. At least that's what I would do.

Exactly. It needs to be a second special counsel, to conduct an independent investigation of corruption in the DoJ, as the DoJ can't be trusted to investigate itself (the current IG inspector reports to the AG). Anyone who wants to trust Mueller to lead this investigation, and they are out there even on FR, are self-unaware drones for the deep state.

I don't want Mueller's investigation closed down. If it were to be shut down tomorrow, all these cockroaches would just disappear into the darkness and we'd never hear from them again.

Mueller's investigation has to continue until the FBI and the entire U.S. national security apparatus is thoroughly discredited to the point that they are shut down completely and their leaders set on fire.

Seems a bit odd for being a Trump confidant.

When the FBI and the IRS have been corrupted and politicized, an honest investigation is urgent.

Excellent article. Great analysis. Well worth the read. I also noticed the amazing lack of trolls in the comments. Telling. The wings are coming off the Mueller plane.

Over his head ...............

I saw Sessions as an example of the Peter Principle almost from his start as AG. I am appreciative of his part in getting DJT elected and see why he was rewarded for his loyalty, but he has certainly been unhelpful since then.

It is an interesting angle. It’s not as if reasonable minded people didn’t know that this team would include people who are incredibly partisan. People are of course entitled to their opinions but when doing the people’s work they should go above and beyond in the effort to be fair - they should welcome scrutiny and act as if their every action will be scrutinized.

But these days the federal behemoth has undertaken so many responsibilities it is impossible that they can be reasonably overseen by Congress or anyone else. It is important for the country to realize just how twisted the swamp creatures are. Some of them act as if they know they can get away with anything they choose to do. Loyalty to truth, justice, the Constitution all take back seat to personal profit, partisanship and petty rivalries.

Trump had predicted it would be over by Christmas - perhaps he knew ahead of time what was to be revealed and is giving Mueller a chance to weasel out “gracefully”....

>>What will it take for Sessions to ever do his job.<<

If you mean the job he was appointed to do, he’s NEVER going to do it because he is 100% under the control of the Deep State. Sessions doesn’t fart unless his handlers give him permission.
