Obama Warns Trump Will Lead America to Genocide Like Hitler, Media Yawn
Newsbusters.org ^ | December 6, 2017 | Kristine Marsh

In a friendly interview with CBS News financial analyst Mellody Hobson, President Obama suggested we could have an American genocide akin to what happened in Nazi Germany with Donald Trump as President.

The former president was speaking to the Economic Club of Chicago when he made the caustic remark, in comments captured by Crain’s Chicago Business political columnist Greg Hinz.

According to Hinz, Obama warned Trump’s “nativism” and distrust of the press would cause our “democracy to fall apart quickly.” Obama then made the connection between Trump and Hitler, warning “60 million people died,” when the world got “complacent.”

Take that, @realDonaldTrump: @BarackObama makes clear his view that a complacent America could be headed the way of Nazi Germany. Read his remarkable comments at #EconomicClub of Chicago. @BarackObama2Day https://t.co/XD4gdhjDRr — Greg Hinz (@GregHinz) December 6, 2017

Hinz summarized Obama’s comments directed at Trump, as follows:

Obama moved from that to talking about a nativist mistrust and unease that has swept around the world. He argued that such things as the speed of technical change and the uneven impact of globalization have come too quickly to be absorbed in many cultures, bringing strange new things and people to areas in which "people didn't (used to) challenge your assumptions." As a result, "nothing feels solid," he said. "Sadly, there's something in us that looks for simple answers when we're agitated."

Still, the U.S. has survived tough times before and will again, he noted, particularly mentioning the days of communist fighter Joseph McCarthy and former President Richard Nixon. But one reason the country survived is because it had a free press to ask questions, Obama added. Though he has problems with the media just like Trump has had, "what I understood was the principle that the free press was vital."

The danger is "grow(ing) complacent," Obama said. "We have to tend to this garden of democracy or else things could fall apart quickly." That's what happened in Germany in the 1930s which, despite the democracy of the Weimar Republic and centuries of high-level cultural and scientific achievements, Adolph Hitler rose to dominate, Obama noted. "Sixty million people died. . . .So, you've got to pay attention. And vote."

As of this write-up, his anti-Trump comments have been ignored by the media.

No surprise either that Obama didn’t appear to get pushback for this comment from his personal friend and financial backer, who just happened to be his interviewer, Mellody Hobson. Hobson is not just a financial contributor for CBS, but is a close friend and high profile donor to Obama’s two presidential campaigns. At a White House event in 2013, Obama warmly described Hobson as a “great great friend”:

Mellody was being very modest when she said she had a front-row seat. Mellody was one of my earliest supporters back when nobody could pronounce my name. And her and John Rogers at Arial Capital helped to co-chair some of my first fundraisers. And they’d have to drag some straggly group in, kicking and screaming, and write a check and listen to this young senator who had a lot of ideas but not necessarily any realistic prospects to win. And she went through a lot of ups and downs with me and my career and is just a great, great friend. So I want to thank her publicly for all the support that she’s given us.

Hobson is also married to billionaire George Lucas and has donated over $100,000 to Obama’s presidential campaigns. She is frequently quoted by the media, like in this recent writeup by The New York Times where she called Colin Kaepernick "a hero of mine."

Faced with such friendly interviewers and audiences, both Obamas haven’t been sitting back quietly while President Trump took office.

At two separate climate conferences this past week, Obama blasted the current administration for opting out of the Paris Climate Agreement. To a group of business leaders in Paris, Obama lamented, “We have a temporary absence of American leadership” on climate change.

In September, Obama criticized Trump’s decision to rescind DACA as “cruel” and “self-defeating.”

The former FLOTUS has also gone after Trump, making snarky comments about his use of Twitter, to several different audiences. In September, she slammed women who didn’t vote for Clinton as betraying their sex, characterizing them as weak-minded and sexist.

As I understand it, the Libyan capital is now held by three different warring factions.

The Libyans there live in total chaos.

Nice job Hillary, Obama, McCain, Graham...

Yes, for some odd reason I would doubt that Hitler would have been interested in recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and supporting the State against its myriad of international and sadly, domestic US enemies as Trump has done.

Obama tried to rip our country and it’s democracy apart. He wants socialism/communism for America.
He failed and President Trump’s undoing Obama’s damage and strengthening America and our democracy.

Exactly right! Which Rule (of Rules for Radicals) is that? #13? I forget, but they certainly stick to their rule book which, coincidently, was dedicated to the devil, himself.

Obama would be dead now if Trump was like Hitler. So would Hillary and Bill. One night and death squads would take them all out—blame it on Terrorists & ISIS.

I remember this guy would interrupt the network programming during his first year to pontificate. He did it so much that the network execs complained.

I suspect that if we didn’t have a free press, we wouldn’t have 97% negative coverage of everything the POTUS does including scoops of ice cream. We also wouldn’t have the spectacular Christmas decorations at the WH described in horror movie terms by socialites as “hot stories” leading the day.
What Obama really hates is that the POTUS is free to speak directly to the people via Twitter. But that’s all changing. Twitter has enacted a rule it will enforce December 18 allowing it to delete accounts based on the comments attached to it. All the Dems have to do is flood the zone with negative comments portrayed as conservatives and his account will be deleted “per the rules.” Some conservatives are movie to a new platform called gab.ai. I wonder if he’ll go there when Twitter shuts him down.
Also - Twitter has infected his account with spyware and he’s been advised not to use it. Note that when he went overseas about 10 days ago, the WH duped Twitter into reporting (tracking) him as being in Los Angeles. Yes - tracking him. Ah Twitter - one of the hubs of villainy and corruption.

This point of view is obviously absurd, yet it reflects the previous concerns held by many that Obama and his fellow travellers might attempt a communist-style purge and send millions to camps.

American politics is polarized because there has been a more or less successful social(ist) revolution that is not accepted by half the population, who now have a viable outlet for their frustrations and a place to cast a vote, something they did not have in 2008 or 2012 during the period when this revolution moved into the political mainstream out of its academic foundations.

No revolutionary should ever imagine that he is immune from retaliation. Once you declare (and win) a revolution like Lenin did, you almost inevitably activate violent resistance. This is probably a fear that Obama and others have, that now out of power, the people they shoved aside might come after them. But instead of saying this directly, he hides behind a phantom illusion of Trump’s interest in a larger retaliation against millions who merely voted for Obama.

No, the correct form of counter-revolution in this instance is to bring legal charges against the globalists who committed crimes (up to and including treason) and to make those charges stick in court with consequences.

Otherwise there is no counter-revolution, just a period without revolutionary gains. Make no mistake, if the globalist beast is not slain in this eight-year period of opportunity, it will go on to worse and more dangerous episodes from which America may truly not recover.

This is Trump’s biggest challenge (among many), to apply the full measure of retaliation against those who thought they could turn America into a communist society without any chance of punishment or retaliation. That must not be allowed to happen. It’s not a “free speech” issue, a society has the right to choose the boundaries within which it is willing to steer a course, and the globalists wanted to go too far to the left. If somebody came along and really was a Hitler clone, then the same thing would apply.

Donald Trump is no Hitler. He’s essentially a social libertarian who wants a balanced budget and a rational economy. In any sane political discourse he would be seen as a centrist or at least on the center-right. There is nobody with any power in American politics remotely like Adolf Hitler. But there are plenty of people very much like Lenin — the only saving grace is that none of them so far have gone the next step (to Stalin) and brought more widespread violence into the equation. Lenin had to kill more people to get his revolution to work than the globalists have done, which mystifies me somewhat, you would think there might have been more opposition to them before this Trump period. And Trump has been masterful in not overtly stating what his counter revolution is about, he simply frames it in positive terms (make America great again), if he actually came right out and said he was anti-globalist like a Steve Bannon might, then he would engage the forces of the left in a mortal fight to the death.

Obama knows what is up here. He is perhaps more evil than stupid. And he wants to cut off Trump’s counter revolution before it can gain any traction. He may succeed because even Trump might not have the stomach for what is needed, let alone any large number of supporters. A few folks here would, but beyond that, how many? Probably far fewer than one million, and it would take twenty million at a minimum to deliver a successful counter-revolutionary blow. And that would need to be managed from one central command. Otherwise it would just fizzle out in pointless shouting matches all over the nation.
