“Your navigation system in your car will call it the 405, but locals call it the 405.”

What does that mean?

Interstate 405 is the San Diego Freeway—an interesting name, because it doesn’t go to San Diego.

Rush needs to educate himself on the fire season in So CA, the Santa Ana winds and some of the terrain within the LA City limits.

There was also the Bel-Air fire of 1961 that destroyed over 500 homes.

Four hundred - five vs. Four-Oh-Five.

A transcript does not always replace the sound clip...

Your GPS will show "405." Southern Californians always put the definite article "the" in front of their freeway numbers.

Why Do Southern Californians Say “The” Before Freeway Numbers?
How Los Angeles got in the habit of putting ‘the’ in front of every freeway name

I think it takes the place of saying "Ya-all."

If cities exist which have hearts, Los Angeles isn’t one of them.

So God is going to sweep in, flames and all, to indiscriminately kill his believers and his doubters, the evil and the innocent. Wow. What benevolence.

He misspoke a little bit, but I know what he meant.

Californians don’t talk about “Interstate 5” or the “San Diego Freeway”. All of the roads are referred to as “THE 5” or “THE 405”.

I’m a native, I grew up referring to roads that way.

Your navigation system will say 405 while the natives precede all freeways in the region in conversation with the prefix “the”. THE 405, THE 605, THE 5, THE 110, etc

I was once a local, family members are local, and we always called it the Freeway!

It was said with tongue in cheek. Of course I realize it would hurt the innocent
