True. It would have been nice had the GOPe done something to help him out, but they did nothing.
Correction. This is all kabuki theater. Franken will resign from a safe Dem seat. This will increase the volume for Moore to resign after his win next week and be cited as precedent to hold people accountable for their pre-senate behavior. This has nothing to do with genuine moral outrage, just politics.

They want Moore to quit now so the race can be handed to Jones, or simply say voters should vote against Moore because he didn’t do the right thing like Franken did by withdrawing from the race. This way Jones wins, and then the Democratic governor from Minnesota can appoint Franken’s replacement. End result, Dems gain a Senate seat which is really all they want.
Norm Coleman was one of the most liberal Republicans in the U.S. Senate. He was hard lcore GOPe himself.

I am torn. I really do not care if he resigns, he would be a damaged candidate. OTOH, would there not be a special election in 2018 or so to replace him?

I am 100% sure that if the governor on MN were Republican, there would not be one democrat calling for him to resign.
The difference is Franken has photos and an apology. Moore has none of this.
