Democrat Lupe Valdez will resign as Dallas County sheriff today to run for governor against incumbent Republican Greg Abbott.

Opportunity in Texas ought to be as big as this great state, but it is out of reach for far too many, that's why I'm running for Texas Governor," Valdez said in a statement released by her campaign. "I'm a proud Texas Democrat. I believe good government can make people's lives better, and I intend to do just that."

If I understand correctly she’s also a lesbian, so she’s almost running out checkboxes for oppressed groups...

College tuition. What does she know. She doesn’t know that in Texas, unless there’s a Z in your last name you have no privilege - step aside.la rasa rules - you’re paying for college tuition and that’s if you get in.

How on earth, how in this world, was that little passive, dowdy twerp elected sheriff? That would not even go over in the movies. I remember watching “Walker, Texas Ranger” and I assumed that was the Texan vision for law enforcement. For crying out loud.

Abbott's whole campaign message should be:

"She had to quit the Dallas PD job before I put her ass in jail over Sanctuary City violation."
