Erdogan calls Islamic summit next week on Jerusalem

Turkey currently holds the chairmanship of the OIC. The recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and the moving of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem -- expected to be announced by President Donald Trump later Wednesday -- would be a "grave mistake" against international agreements, Kalin warned.

"Jerusalem is our honour, Jerusalem is our common cause, Jerusalem is our red line," he added, urging the Trump administration to "return from this grave mistake immediately".

Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said the expected US move risked igniting a "fire" in the Middle East and will prove a "great disaster".

The recognition will "throw the region and the world into a fire and it's not known when it will end", Bozdag, also government spokesman, wrote on Twitter. Bozdag said such a step which showed "great intolerance and mindlessness" would "destroy the peace process".

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters in Brussels ahead of meeting US counterpart Rex Tillerson that the move is a "mistake" that "will not bring stability and peace but rather chaos and instability."

...

Erdogan had warned Tuesday that the status of Jerusalem is a "red line" for Muslims and could even prompt Turkey to cut ties with Israel.

The Turkish leader -- who regards himself as a champion of the Palestinian cause -- is due to hold talks later in Ankara with Jordanian King Abdullah II who is also a strong opponent of the move.

Last year, Turkey and Israel ended a rift triggered by Israel's deadly storming in 2010 of a Gaza-bound ship that left 10 Turkish activists dead and led to a downgrading of diplomatic ties.

The two sides have since stepped up cooperation in particular in energy but Erdogan is still often bitterly critical of Israeli policy.

What is it about Islam and Muslims that causes their constant urge for blood and murder?

“The Turkish leader — who regards himself as a champion of the Palestinian cause — ...”

So, Turkish tyrant, how many “Palestinians” have you taken in as refugees over the last, oh, sixty years?

That’s what I thought. Some champion.

“What is it about Islam and Muslims that causes their constant urge for blood and murder?”

My guess is it is a manifestation of the denial of truth all muslims are forced to endure. That and the hatred for Israel and the West their children are taught from infancy. Islam should be wiped from the Earth.

Antagonism is the very foundation of Islam. Muhammed wanted a religion that could compete with Christianity and Judaism as a means to recruit troops for his Jihads. Its purpose was to conquer land by way of exterminating other religions. So hatred of other religions is a staple of what Islam is all about.

"...Jerusalem is our honour, Jerusalem is our common cause, Jerusalem is our red line..."

All the more reason to recognize it as the capital of Israel. Ergodan wants to whip up war fever...well, it is going to come eventually no matter what regardless.

The good thing about this is at least it stirs the pot a little.

Israel should ban him. He’s made threats against them. England banned Michael Savage for trying to save them from self-destruction. Erdogan, on the other hand, desires Israel’s destruction.

There goes the USAF base at Incirlik making sorties five times longer from Italy. How long would they give for dependents and planes to move? No more twice a year NATO exercises.

Hypocrite. Turkey and the sham called Palestine are intolerant of Israel and their right to determine their own capital, not to mention their right to exist. Further, what could destroy the peace process more than missiles being launched into Israel on a daily basis? Or having Moslems cross the border to murder Israeli's?

What “international agreements”? That between, say, Turkey and Iran? Neither one wants the existence of the Israeli nation at all, certainly something that Israel would never agree to.

The United States is free to designate its primary embassy in whatever city within the territory of the country with whom they wish to establish diplomatic relations, but out of courtesy, this is most often in the designated capital city.

By way of illustration, Bonn was the acting capital of the country established as “West Germany” in 1955, but for diplomatic reasons an outpost was maintained in Berlin, even though it lay in disputed territory. Berlin was always the designated capital city of West Germany.
