The NY Slimes was the ONLY outfit to factually provide the results of the 2016 US Elections that I ended up following on Election night while we were in New Zealand. I was shocked by this unexpected professionalism , but thrilled with the EC numbers at the end of the night!

My hometown paper drives me crazy.

The New York Times has not been a "home town" newspaper for a very long time. Even in the '70s, when Son of Sam was on the front page of the New York Post and New York Daily News, the New York Times would likely place the story below the fold or on Page A3 and have something on Henry Kissinger releasing a statement to some dignitaries on Page One.
