Germany warns US against recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel on Tuesday warned the US about the dangers of moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“Recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel does not calm a conflict; rather, it fuels it even more,” Gabriel said. “It’s in everyone’s interest that this does not happen.”

Despite widespread international opposition to the move, Trump is expected to recognize the city as Israel’s capital on Wednesday. A senior administration official speaking on the condition of anonymity told AFP news agency that the president would make the announcement during a speech slated for 1 p.m. local time (1800 UTC). In Europe, the US proposal has been met with skepticism and warnings. French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that he reminded Trump that the status of Jerusalem should be determined during negotiations for a two-state solution.

Seems to me the refusal to accept Jerusalem as the capitol really is the refusal to accept Israel’s existence, and to plan its destruction. From what history I know, there is no way Islam has more of an interest in the city than Christians or Jews.
