The Republican tax reform bill would still allow illegal immigrants to claim a key tax credit, despite earlier calls from conservative lawmakers to end what they say is a multi-billion dollar annual reward for lawbreakers.
Under both the House and Senate versions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, illegal immigrants with taxpayer identification numbers may claim the child tax credit for any of their U.S.-born children.
The original version of the Republican tax bill introduced in the House Ways and Means Committee stipulated that the refundable credit would not be available unless the taxpayer includes the taxpayers Social Security number on the return of tax for such taxable year. In other words, illegal immigrants, who dont have legitimate social security numbers, would be ineligible for the credit, regardless of their childrens citizenship status.
When the bill was marked up in committee, though, the provision was amended with language mandating only that the qualifying child have a social security number, not the taxpayer. The amended language allows illegal immigrants to continue claiming the credit, which would be doubled to $2,000 per child, for their U.S. citizen children.

There is HUGE fraud from this credit.
Hundreds of checks go to single addresses.
Some of the children live in Mexico, some don’t even exist.
The worst part is that many who get these checks aren’t even paying in.

This will be difficult. The aspect of children born on American soil, thus making them naturalized citizens, is a real pot hole. You can’t just remove it from the bill because it will still exist. And it is possible for legal immigrants, invited here by the government, to have children that are then citizens by birth. So the kids are citizens, and the parents are not.
To actually change the situation, the 14th Amendment would have to be re-written. It currently says:
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside.”
Can we say, in some situations, “loophole?” And the price for changing it would be a real head-ache.

Sorry, but it is the ILLEGAL ALIEN PARENT(S) that are receiving the credit-not the citizen child.
So if they have a tax ID number, they pay taxes. Don’t collect them if you font want to pay.
Don’t give government ID to illegals, simple.
Foreign nationals are subject to the jurisdiction of their home countries and so are their children.
Yes, somehow they think confiscating 300 million guns is practical but not so on illegals.
Fact of the matter is that during the depression Roosevelt marched them all from the Midwest to the border, MARCHED THEM in a row!.

A few hundred thousand less is hardly noticeable.
No!!! This is amnesty and facilitates their presence. They should not get any tax credits, instead they should be deported upon filing. Given pass to leave country instead of facing charges if they name their employer.
Is this INCENTIVE for illegals to STILL want to come to this country illegally or what?
What we need to start doing is officially criticizing the Mexican government, their corruption, and their inability to provide opportunities for their own citizens. Seriously. We should state that Mexico has rich natural resources, a large amount of valuable coastline, and a very bright and talented citizenry, but they feel they have to leave Mexico because the government corruption there precludes economic growth and opportunity. This is all true, and we need to shame their government over, and over, and over again. In fact, I would propose reciprocal educational programs, and greater cooperation with Mexico, predicated on their providing greater opportunities to their own citizens and working to stop illegal immigration.
