I didn't realize that hurricane refugee Puerto Ricans could vote in Florida? Is this something to be concerned about?

Yes, it is something to worry about. I’m seeing a lot of Puerto Ricans in my area of Florida (Jacksonville area) for the first time ever. My usual retail and fast food stops adding more espanol every time I visit. They are not all from PR but the trend is clear.

Voter registration since the November 2016 election has been trending Republican.
The economy is starting to turn around and if the economy is doing well in 2020 Trump will be easily re-elected.
Also, in spite of the rantings of that woman mayor in San Juan, President Trump has been very good to Puerto Rico.

What really bugs me is just how ineffective most conservatives are at winning immigrant votes - or even trying much - when it is conservative economic policies that will benefit immigrants the most - and not incidentally most immigrants tend to have rather conservative social values too. In a word, yes. Most Puerto Ricans are left-liberal Democrats. The Puerto Ricans whom I know best are conservative and they despair of the larger PR community changing it political and cultural attitudes. In combination with generational changes and growing numbers of other non-Cuban Hispanics, it is hard to see Florida as a GOP stronghold for much longer.
Dems are not going to take the House in 2018, it’s losing FL in 2020 and thus no re-election for Trump is what concerns me.
Puerto Rico was ceded to the USA after the Spanish American as spoils of War. They were given full American citizenship many decades ago. There are more Puerto Ricans living in the USA than in the islands. My neighbor across the street is a dual service 38 year veteran E-9, and even fought in Grenada and Panama.
The island should have been stripped of its territory and citizenship status right after the FALN terrorist events on the 70s.
