WASHINGTON — The former top FBI official assigned to special counsel Robert Mueller's probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election was taken off that job this summer after his bosses discovered he and another member of Mueller's team had exchanged politically charged texts disparaging President Donald Trump and supportive of Hillary Clinton, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.
Peter Strzok, as deputy head of counter-intelligence at the FBI, was a key player in the investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server to do government work as Secretary of State, as well as the probe into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.
During the Clinton investigation, Strzok was involved in a romantic relationship with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who worked for Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, according to the people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.
The extramarital affair was problematic, these people said, but of greater concern among senior law enforcement officials were text messages the two exchanged during the Clinton investigation and campaign season, in which they expressed anti-Trump sentiments and other comments that appeared to favor Clinton.

How did the contents of private text messages become public?
Federal law enforcement seems to be in a place where the good guys are kept on the bottom rung and the scum rise.
Probably reflects the attitude of the whole team. These were the only 2 dumb enough to express their feelings in writing
Being Anti-Trump was the reason they were chosen for the job.
Mueller lost control over his controlled leaks.
Release each and every one of the texts they wrote on company time and government computers - we paid for them, we own them and I bet their messages prove the chicanery that I expect that has gone on with this “investigation” from the start.
Any evidence these two gathered needs to be thrown out.
Word is they gave Flynn a seeetheart quick deal before word got out the entire investigation is compromised.
What a mess. So much for the theory Mulehead was going after Podesta and HRC.
Their existence is public but not contents ... yet. Mueller did not out them they were most likely outed by a white hat. Their reassignment is not Meullers doing.
The entire FBI has been corrupted.

They haven't, and the FBI will do everything in its power to keep it that way. Because protecting the reputation of the Bureau is far more important than ensuring its integrity.
If you meant "how did they become known," it appears to be the result of an IG investigation into the FBI.

I recall from (Past) FBI actions ..... ( when Comey ran things ) -that the Clintons seemed to be in control of this agency.
It appears that not much has changed.

Yes, the little cadres of liberal fascist SS -FBI cadres need to be rooted out and purged from the FBI. It may be that the FBI has been completely compromised by the Obama Stazi(Staatssicherheitsdienst, SSD, In which case the FBI needs to be disbanded as a government agency.
You must remember that the FBI as an institution believes that the Trump dossier is true and real, it is THAT out to lunch, , after the dossier was bought and paid for as fictional intelligence by the Clinton Campaign, then used to obtain a search warrant from the FISA court in reference to the Trump campaign.
The author of that report, a retired MI5 bogus British agent, needs to be hauled in to testify before the Judiciary Committee.And British PM May stands in the way of getting the path of that false dossier straightened out , there is a reason President Trump now dislikes May IMHO.
The FBI is complicit in creating intel out of whole cloth. It has become a counter-intelligence agency gone rogue. No surprise it has a bunch of liberal fascists inside the FBI still doing their dirty. The Secret Service should be rounding up these little FBI liberal fascists, and those like them, interrogating them about their sub rosa network, because it leads back to one place: The Obama Saul Alinsky ready room at Obama’s new house at 2446 Belmont Rd NW Washington DC 20008.
