Very relevant here in the next month, as my town votes to allow recreational stores (or not). I envision pot entrepreneurs will set up shop near their most likely customers - near the “high” school and junior “high”.
Fake news. No one is allowing dispensaries near schools in Florida.
Also, the strain matters. Sativas have greater psychotropic effect. Indicas are better for analgesic benefit.
Just google “marijuana and schizophrenia”.
In a small town here in MA, if we opt-in, anywhere in the town is too close to the schools. Town acreage is not huge, and there are more than a handful of schools spread around the reaches of town.
Maybe “fake news” for some, but not here.

My wife tried marijuana once during her life and hated it but in her last days suffering from the effects of cancer she wanted it. My brother was to bring her some from his stash but alas she didn’t last that long. I tried to get her to take the morphine hospice gave her but she wanted the gonja because she though morphine would harm her; crazy right? I hope she’s happy where she is now. I sure do miss her.
Allowing people to grow a few plants for personal use, similar to laws regarding home made wine and beer (but much easier), would take “Big Pharma” right out of the picture. And that’s probably why such a simple idea isn’t being put on the table. “Legalization” of “Medical Marijuana” and touted “advancements” in refining the THC out of the common plant and into proprietary medications makes no sense to me, but would to the drug companies and their in-the-pocket politicians.
I have. Try again.
If/when a dispensary is allowed to operate near a school please let me know. Thanks.
I wonder just how much cash they have raked in to push this? The legions of cannibis positive drug screens showing up in the ER mean only one thing, it’s a lie. Of course they are recreational users with their absolutely wrecked dopamine loop.
Cash is king and since medical marijuana, heroine has made a big ole 60s comeback as the dopamine becomes less. Responsive. Insanity. I hope they are enjoying their cash for souls.
Ah yes the ever intrusive nanny state. I am aware.
It’s not a concern.
Just for fun & giggles I did exactly that again. I’ve used that same search verbiage before, mind you. Here’s what I found from a source I trust.

Excerpt:
“Our research demonstrates that cannabis has a differential risk on susceptible versus non-susceptible individuals,” said Dr. Barzilay, principal investigator of the study. “In other words, young people with a genetic susceptibility to schizophrenia — those who have psychiatric disorders in their families — should bear in mind that they’re playing with fire if they smoke pot during adolescence.”
Makes sense. People with a history of alcoholism shouldn’t drink booze & folks with a history of schizophrenia in should not use cannabis. Makes perfect sense to me. People with a history of high blood pressure shouldn’t eat salt & so on.
So you wanna try again yet?
This is the first I have heard of this. Thank you. It explains what happened to my brother who has been toking since he was 16. He had a psychotic break that no one could understand.
Some info that might help explain what happened with your brother.

Hope he is doing well these days.
Thank you for that. It explains stuff I had no idea about. We have an aunt who was schizophrenic. He had his break, we thought due to something else. This puts a whole new light on things.
Peace be with your brother & your whole family.
I’ver suffered from severe depression & anxiety for close to 25 years. Mental illness is hard on families when a family member is suffering from it.
