I believe in a strong defense. And there are some places to be concerned about in this regard - e.g. the Baltics.

If Russia were "violently" expansionist, Ukraine would have been over and done with by now. Geography matters and the Black Sea is hostile geography.

I am not a fan of Russia, but it is there and we have to live with that. The Crimea was Russian from before we were the United States. Russia is not going to give it up and we should have stopped trying to figure out how to swindle Russia out of its principal ports on the Baltic.
